Need opinions, I have a stock 2018 Tacoma SR. Is it worth it to make off road mods to this trim

All Tacomas are SR's at heart. Some are more gussied up than others though.

I like that, I think I’m going to get an SR5 badge for my off-road, because I’m inclusive! Haha

Edit: Currently drinking whiskey, I’ll reconsider tomorrow.

Gotta start somewhere. No reason you can't make a SR5 your own.
lol as far as the 4cyl - my old 22re was a ton of fun with a little over half the hp..

The only thing that makes you off-road it actually taking it off the road.

Why do you want to mod? If you off-road to because you work in sketchy road conditions, or hunt, fish, or camp, etc, and need to get there no matter what, something like an OR model might be a better model to own. If you off-road for fun, any model is a great platform, and more horsepower/torque often equals more broken stuff. Drive the best you can with whatever mods you make. Driving a trail with open diffs where others need lockers is always impressive.

I have an offroad package that I pulled off a 2019. Includes front springs, rear leafs, 4 shocks, and stock ORD tires. PM if you are interested. I'm in central Utah. Not looking to ship, so you'd have to be nearby to make the drive worth it. I'll be honest though, the offroad suspension will give a bit of lift and a comfortable ride for mild wheeling, but the leaf won't stand up to a heavy load out, and I wouldn't trust the stock tires on starp rocks in the back country (miles from no where wheeling). If you are doing more mild wheeling, then it is all you'll probably need at a price that can't be beat.

All suspension on the 3rd gen except the Pro sit at the same height. There wouldn’t be a mild lift.

This is your truck. If you like your truck, then it's worth upgrading.

No matter what folks might tell you, there are a good majority here who never lift their trucks or do any suspension mods. Any model Tacoma will do just fine for probably 90% or better of offroad stuff. Sure you might lift and armor up if you are doing extreme crawling, or if the mall parking lot is really that intimidating, but generally not needed.

HA mall parking lots can be treacherous:rofl:, for real tho, I think some better tires, skids, will suffice for now. I have a few buddies that I've been off road with as a passenger for years, they go to old slag dumps and abandoned mines which aren't too terrible as far as terrain is concerned, but they do a trip every so often to a place in PA called Rausch creek and that place has some real hardcore terrain. One day id like to go with them after I get some experience off road and determine what mods if any I'd need to do.

My first truck was a 10 year old 1983 Toyota SR5 4x4. It had a stock 22R 4 cylinder, 5 speed, stock suspension and a set of 31 inch BFG mud terrains. Those tires and a better stereo (auto reverse cassette - Motley Crue rules dude!) were the ONLY modifications. I drove it daily, roadtripped it across the country, towed with it and wheeled it fairly hard. My buddies all had full size American trucks but I was happy with my little SR5. You don't have to have a certain vehicle to enjoy yourself.
