need opinions on my spare tire idea

    Backing plates like the ones Dell posted will be ideal, but just to clarify, when I say washers, I don't mean washers like the ones in Dell's pics. Those washers are nowhere near big enough. The ones I'm talking about actually have more surface area that the backing plates in those pics.

    Here's the few pics I had . It's basically scrap metal I had laying around my garage .
    Angle iron
    2 pieces of 2x2 square tube
    Plate steel .

    I don't use it anymore but I'm sure it's still somewhere in my garage . Ill find and take better pictures for you to get a idea . I had 2 1/2" bolts holding it to the bed rails .

    are you describing the larger OD fender washers ?

    Yeah I'm just talking about larger OD fender washers. Like I said before, backing plates are ideal but not everyone has extra plate for making those and sourcing large fender washers can be easier to find.

    I have some that I use for some tie down hooks in my bed that are probably 2" OD.
