need some help. 98 rav4

    My friend is stationed in NM right now and just bought a 98 rav 4 (i did him a favor and told him to buy a yota:D) he called me today and said he was having some trouble with the lights by his gear shift (that light up what gear you are in), the knobs on the air system, and the clock turning off some times. i told him to check the fuses, all were fine. the only other thing i can think of without seeing it is maybe there is a short in the wires somewhere. anybody have some ideas i could tell him to check?
