could anyone possibly tell me what the measurements for the lug hole are supposed to be on my stock wheels.

the reason I am wanting to know is because i bought my tacoma about 3 months ago, since then i have noticed that there is some pretty bad vibes coming from the truck at highway speeds, it's like the hole trucks bounces/shakes bad between 45-55, but at speeds of 65+ it smooths out. i have spend lots of $$ and time trying to fix this issue but with no avail. although at one of the many tires shops I have visited in the last 3 months they informed me that the lug nuts that come on the truck were acorn style nuts for steel wheels. they also said that because of the wrong lug nuts being on there that there are eating away (boring) at my mag wheels.

I ordered the correct lug nuts since then and the probelm is still present, if not worse. i am just wondering if the wheels have some slop due to the poor fitment between the lugs and the wheels and that is what is causing my problem. any idea would be most appreciated.

I am not certain about the lug measurements on a 1st gen. but I have had a similar experience with my buddy chevelle. I know you said you have had the truck looked at but what abou this.
We had water in our tire. It would balance and ride fine at low speeds up to 55 to about 60, after 60 it would be smooth as hell.

thanks for the reply....but i do not think that is the issue. i was just at the tire/wheel shop 3 days ago and they broke all 4 down to inspect the wheels and tire and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. i am begining to lose my patience with this issue.

Could the drive line be out-of-balance?

it's crossed my mind....i just have not had the time to got to the drive shaft shop and have it checked out.....i know my tacoma has the axle warp issue, could this have possibly caused the drive shaft to get bent out of line or out of balance?

If you've ruled out tire/wheel problems, including alignment, then I guess it's worth looking into the driveshaft/u-joints. With vibrations I always start suspecting the most obvious possibilities first--Like an out of balance tire, or something having to do with alignment. I use to work at Les Schwab and when people came in with a vibration complaint, it usually always turned out to be something with a tire. ( I've seen many wheels throw a balance weight and later a serious vibration occurs. Suspect the driveshaft as a last resort once all other possibilities have been explored. I'm not an expert, but I did stay at a "Holiday Inn Express" lastnight:)

thanks for the advice.....i have checked tires/wheels about 5 differenct times, put new shocks all around, new center carrier bearing, i guess the driveshaft is my last option. for what it's worth. i do notice that the bed bounces severly when the problem occurs....what could be causing that? when i am driving down the road i look in my sideview mirror at the gap between the cab and the bed, the bed looks as if it is about to bounce off the frame. and the cab doesn't seem to move. i know a little bed bounce is normal, but in my case it looks severe.

i took my truck to the driveshaft shop yesterday, the shaft was a little bit out of balance, so i had him rebalance it. it helped a little but did not solve my problem. they guy that worked there he stongly believes that either the tires are just hard riding, or the wheels are f'd up.
