I'm trying to remove the rear shock and as I turn the 14mm nut at the top of the shock it won't come loose, the shock itself just spins. I tried taping up the shock and using vice grips to hold it in place as I turn the nut but that is not working....

    Any suggestions?

Make the vice grips tighter on the shock shaft and use some Liquid Wrench on that top nut.

Don't get the liquid wrench on the shock shaft. That stuff is slick and even the vice grips won't hold after that.

If you have an impact gun you could also give that a shot.

first put your box wrench on then the vice grips on the flat part at the top... and twist, an adjustable wrench works also

Finally got em off, the top does not take any wrench, it is just a rectangular piece of metal, the driver side was a piece of cake but the passenger took forever, it was locked up pretty good.
