My Taco is likely going to my wife to be her daily driver sometime in the next 4-6 months (2017 Raptor on order for me). It's currently lifted with a Toytec lift and 33" tires, so my 5'3" wife sometimes has trouble getting in. In addition to that, we sometimes have to take my FIL with us - he's in his mid 70s and around 300 lbs, so pretty much have to pull up against a curb and help him climb in.

So, I'm looking for some step rail options. My wife would prefer sliders like on her Xterra, but we don't seriously offroad in the Taco so the cost/strength would be wasted. Further, they generally don't stick out as far as nerf bars and so provide less value as a step aid for the height challenged.

That said, I've never bought or installed anything but sliders, so I don't know (much about) where to look for options. Can I get something that is frame mounted instead of rocker panel mounted? I'd prefer black, but is stainless better than painted/PC?

N-fab stirrups look good and withstand a beating! They come in black clear primer paint, I'd spray them with bed liner from local auto parts store to give them some more traction and durability as the paint easily chips off over time. My .02

I ordered a set of these through ebay. They just arrived yesterday and I haven't even unpacked them yet. From watching an installation video they do attach to the frame.

Westin bars will attach at the frame as well.

I just replaced the dealer installed tube steps with some Relentless sliders that offer a larger platform and bolt to the frame instead of the body.

Are they/can they be frame mounted?
Only one set of bracket shown, which makes me suspicious about being frame and body mountable. Plus, they only support up to 300 lbs. each, which is not enough.
Is there a special kit or version required? The installation videos I watched were all body mounts.
I'll take a look, but sliders don't typically have the extension I think I need. I could be wrong - hard to tell from your picture (I think it's the angle).

@RelentlessFab designed these to be used as a step. Similar extension as a running board.
