    Hi guys,

I need to change my battery on my 2010 Tacoma (v6).

What are the minimal specs af amps required for the truck?
And what do you suggest for the number of amps requireds on cold crank start.
I live in Quebec, so we have tough Winters :)

    Thanks.

Go to all the stores and find the one with the most cold cranking amps. Done.

When my OEM battery fails (assuming I still have the truck by then) I'll be replacing it with Interstate. I've always been impressed by how well they hold up to heavy use, abuse, and neglect. I forked over the cash for an optima once and it was junk within 2 years.

Now let the circle jerking begin....

If the old Battery started your truck in the winter put the same amp hour back into it. ;)

I have an Optima yellow top in my Corvette. The vette owners in the forums swear by those things. I had a red top and it shit the bed in 1 year. I am using the yellow top now but it stays on the tender so its tough to say if its really a good battery under normal use. I have my doubts. I definitely would not consider it for the harsh winters of Quebec. Think about a deep cycle battery.

I would definitely not want a deep cycle battery for cold starts. Generally, deep cycle batteries don't have a lot of CCA. I had a yellow top also, and it did well enough for me, but unless you have higher electrical loads, there's no real benefit for running a deep cycle battery on a daily driver with normal electrical loads.

Hey OP, whatever you decide on an battery, make sure you run an external battery power source to your truck so your truck doesn't loose electrical power while your changing the battery. If you don't, it will reset the ecu back to factory settings. It takes many cold starts and driving for the ecu to (get used to you) again. Mpg's will suffer, in my experience.:)

Hey OP, is doesn't take much to keep the ecu (set?). Most places you would buy batteries will do this at no charge. That's what I would do.
As far as the ecu reset and mpg's are concerned, a block heater won't help. I did it in warm weather and still had a mpg loss. It does come back though, as I said, it takes time. Toyota's have an ambient air sensor, that's one reason, among many, that contributes to poor mpg's in the Tacoma's in cold weather. But,,, that's another story!!!;)

Got a new battery tonight. But I got another issue. My bracket won't fit on it. I mean, the battery cover is a little cabered. The result : The bracket doesn't fit perfectly wich make the front stem a little bit to short to fix it on the bracket properly ?

Is this possible to buy new bracke with stem? Or just finding a longer stem (even if the bracket doesn't fit perfectly on the battery cover) Other?

Hey Gerald, your on a right track. The fact is the Tacoma's ecu reacts ( very richly;)) to cold ambient temps. That's why, across this site and others, the frustration with cold weather mpg's. If you watch, mpg (fussing), lessens in warm months, for the most part. It is in the ECU's setup. That's why I said the winter (bra):), is on the right track.;)

580 CCA minimum. If the cigarette lighter socket is alway on, I use nine-volt "memory saver" whenever I change a battery.

Winter gas also contains less energy, so you go less miles on a gallon.;)

And I'll also throw in my vote for the Costco battery.
