I had my leaf pack replaced and now I feel my truck has too much rake (4 leaf vs old 3) and would like to level it out. I have read enough that I am settled on 5100s in the front likely at the first setting.

My question is: as my truck is older (2005), if i don't replace anything else, will the bilstein's cause any issues with older parts - put more stress on them at 0.85 setting?

    Thanks

...I guess what I am saying is should I replace anything else at the same time to save headaches later on...I am aware that I likely will have to have an alignment after.
    Thanks

I think you're good to just replace the front shock unless something else is worn out. May depend on whether your truck has high miles and what you've already replaced. Did you just have the leaf pack replaced though? When I had the TSB done I had the normal rake, but the packs sagged quickly and now have a negative arch after ~7k miles.

I've had 5100s at 1.75 since 2009. Just replaced for the same thing last fall. Only reason I put them on is that in 2008 I put an AAL in the back in an attempt to make it carry more than half an ounce in the back and it was nose down bad.

100K miles later, I've not had any noticeable issues or abnormal wear with the 5100s. I did, just within the last 5K miles identify an occasional new vibration which may be the left side front dif needle bearing, but I'll likely just roll with it.

My advice, and wholly dependant on how long you've had the springs, is to wait and see if they settle before you play with the front height.

I have had the new leaf pack for about 10 months - seems to be holding OK - the drivers side leaf was broken and the truck seemed level because of it so the new leaf pack has definitely changed the rake - the truck has about 220,000kms (so about 137xxx miles on it)...hoping to get many more years with it.

Other than the drivers side wheel bearing that was replaced 3-4 years ago everything is from factory (2005) - the ball joint has some play in it on drivers side too but I was told it is still within safe limits by a toyota tech
