Negitive offset rims?

my younger brother is wanting to put rims on his truck that are 16"x9" and have a negative offset. would he have to level the front end of the truck to use these rims without any problems? I dont know anything about rim offsets but he was told he would need to level or lift the truck to use these rims with 265/75's

A 265/75-16 tire is approximately 32" tall. You shouldn't have any problem fitting those if you have 3" lift as your truck info indicates. If its on a an unlifted truck, a 32" tire mounted on a 9" wide rim with negative offset will probably have rubbing issues.

Offset determines how far a rim sticks out when mounted. The higher the negative offset, the further out it is.

 

X2. I have -12 offset wheels on my 06' and they stick out about 1 1/2"s past the fenders. I like them cause it gives the truck a meaner looking stance.

 

well its for my brothers tacoma which isnt lifted, not mine. its a 2004 TRD but not 4x4 (if that matters at all) but the shop he is getting the rims put on at said he would need to at least level the front end by raising it 2" could he get away with just some minor fender trimming or is it advised to raise the front? he has no problem leveling it if he has to, im just trying to see what others have done and maybe save him some $

 

There are many folks on here running 32s with no lift but they are doing it on the stock rims. that is the trade off.
