well right now i have 235/75/r15s on stock rim which are 29" i believe.

i also had to deal with a break in, someone tried to steal my sound system which is close to 5 grand, so the truck is being fixed until the fourth. i am going to install the readylift as soon as possible. i was going to get rockstar rims and put 31's on but now that i see you are running 33"s im definitely going 33"s!!!

did the 33's fit only after you removed the front bumper? or will they fit with the front bumper? hows the rubbing/tread wear etc...

Yes, you will need to do some trimming and remove the black box from the back of the plastic fender. Here is a link to what I am referring to as the black box.

    235/75/R16 is approximately 28.88"

I know how you feel. A few months back some one stole my head unit, Ipod, ScanGauge, and other things.

As for running 33s, the front bumper has to be remove completely to allow enough room to turn the wheel. When I had 31s, I went to Discount Tire to have them test fit 32x11.5s (a wide tire) it rubbed pretty bad on the front bumper. It is not worth cutting up a front bumper to fit 32s or 33s, IMO get an aftermarket bumper to gain some room.

Currently, with the 33s and the 'right' wheel specs, there is no rubbing. I still have more miles to travel before I can comment on the thread wear.

Sweet. Be sure to take pics and post them. We like to see before and after pics

I would think so, the main thing would be airing down my tires, and keeping a steady pace. I signed up to attend a SoCal meet in January, so I get to see how my truck will do in the dunes. I think my mud terrains would like to dig me into the ground, but I know starting slow is the key to getting the truck rolling.

Do you plan on doing some desert running in your truck?

Hey neslerrah. got my new sruts went with the KYBs my father-in-law said they are very good, and comparable to Bilsteins about 25 dollars a piece cheaper. I saved some money, and if I plan on going with TC UCA and Icon Coilovers later maybe, in another 60k I think it's a good choice. The ride is so much better the drivers side was blown also I guess ( I think because I drive it like I stole it on dirt roads) it was a little bumping, but now everything is good. Thanks for the input I might see you at the Jan 14-16 Supesrtition Mtn. trip I guess, I plan on attending. This 2wd stuff is new to me, I had a 85 rock crawler about 7-8 years ago before I got married. So I am familar with offroading. Now I'm trying to find the time to offroad again, just 2wd prerunner style.

I wish I did some research before I jumped in and bought a Tacoma. It is good you are considering your options. The main reason I choose my 5 lug mini is because of the MPG, I wanted something that was fuel friendly. But after my MOD bug came along, I wanted to do more with my truck. Watch out for that bug! :p

Sweet. Glad to hear you got the struts replaced. After I replaced my front struts, the ride with spacer did not feel too bad. I hope to have the TC mid-travel kit installed before I head out to Cali for the meet.

Do you have pics of your rock crawler?

I did some searching on the muffler you had welded into your exhaust system. The muffler has 2.5" inlet and outlet. Our stock exhaust is 2.25" in diameter.

Any reason why you went with muffler which has larger inlet/outlet than the exhaust system?

Also could you post some pictures of the muffler in the exhaust system?

Yes, our inlet/outlet on our truck is 2.25". There are adapters that are sold to go between sizes (i.e. 2.25" to 3" and vice versa). I am sure any exhaust shop will have the materials to get a muffer to fit on stock pipes. I chose my Dynomax Super Turbo because of the length (27"). I've read in a few threads, the longer the length of a muffler, the less noise it will make. I wanted something that would sound better than stock and have some added performance, I got sound a performance from the Super Turbo. It has been several months since I've had it installed, it still sound great!

Also, this helped make my chose. Link to to video.

Awesome. I am looking forward to what you do with your build. Beware of the MOD bug.

Try not too buy a 2005 Tacoma because of issues with motor mounts. IMO, if you are going to buy use, I would shop for something less than 30k. For the V6, 30k maintenance is when a lot of maintenance needs to be done, so you will be able to start off 'fresh' with new spark plugs and fluids.
