So here's the story..... I go to the dealership because I see this 2009 (7,000 miles!!!) red, dual cab, 6 speed manual 6 cylinder tacoma. I test drive it... I love it! So, I get my finances in place and put a down payment on it this past Monday. I had to travel for work so I said id be back to sign any additional paperwork and pick the truck on Friday.

Friday finally comes. I get a call 10am, hey jerry everything is in place and we will see you at 12:15 to finalize everything

11:45am.... I get a call from the financing manager.... Hey jerry, I have bad news. somehow your truck went to auction last night at 9pm and is sold. I went off..... that move is a breach of contract, and plain disrespectful. I told him I wanted a 2011 for the same price and a rental car until he found it or I was going to see them in court.

Sales manager calls me a little later, he found me graphite 2011 TRD Sport DC and will give me a good price, I said have it delivered and I will check it out. Truck shows up 6pm that night. I go over, its a silver :/ not graphite. Its a TRD Offroad... not a sport. And he said 29000 for that truck. I said, look.... it has been nothing but mistakes with you guys, I will be contacting my lawyer tomorrow if you dont either get the red truck back here tomorrow or sell me that 2011. for 24 out the door.

Needless to say, I settled a little bit but I got a 2011 for 25k out the door. I got the sport hood, running boards, window visors and paint matched grills on the way. The truck was supposed to be a TRD sport, not an offroad.... so they worked it out so that I get the offroad stuff, plus all of the stuff I just listed. I was never a fan of silver trucks.... but I think its growing on me ;)

I am new to the forum, this is my first tacoma. I am jerry, 21 years old from Lansdale PA

Welcome. Sounds like a great deal. Is that a pre-runner or 4x4? Either way still a great deal.

    Welcome Jerry,

I had bad experiences buying from my stealership. Custom ordered from factory cause of the ABS brakes, it is 2001. Well they said when it came in:

Give us $500.00, this was no where in the contract. So i said wow ill just contact a lawyer. The lawyer said its not worth it, just pay it. So i paid it cause my truck was ON THE FREKING LOT and they said no 500.00, no truck. This was AFTER i paid my down payment.

So now i go down there and test drive camry's and waste their time at my leisure. I assume they make 10.00 a hour, so i'm still counting my hours wasted with their employee's till i get my 500.00 back.

Its a 4x4. And yeah... I was furious. I had signed a paper saying that the truck would be held under my deposit until Saturday. It got sold Thursday nght.... I was furious!!! Luckily I got the truck for cheap, and a lower interest rate :) I love the truck so far though... I only see it getting better from here on out!

Did you put a down payment on the truck or a deposit? Where I live, when you've agreed on a price, you put a deposit (typically $1000) to hold the truck. The remainder of the down payment is due when you pick up the truck. The time in between is used to do paperwork, get plates, get insurance, etc. If the dealer sells the truck in that time, they only need to refund your deposit.

Glad it worked out for you at the end though, and welcome!:proposetoast:

But it will be a lot better truck. Make sure you burn the dealer good in the survey. And I think you ended up with a better color.

Sounds like it might have been an honest mistake. I wouldn't write a bad review on the dealer. you settled for a brand new truck with upgrades for just a grand more. sounds like op was taken care of in the end. anyways welcome to tw.

 They're still making money, so I'm guessing you're not doing anything to hurt them. Damn funny though..
