I guess I'm shallow, but I would go for the TRD sport; and I would go new imo, i don't like my truck to be molested by others. Eventhough I think I paid too much for my truck, I think its reasonable to offer them 28500; but you have to be willing to walk if they won't budge.

It's a tough economy, they need to make a sale....but you shouldn't be to eager to bite. and 28500 is about near invoice....good luck

4x2? 4x4? AFAIK, that 28500 is closer to invoice for a loaded 4x2 PreRunner......TrueCar puts a "good" price at approx $31,734 for a 4x4 Sport with tow package, floor mats, door sills, JBL and wheel locks and $28,749 for a 4x2 PreRunner Sport configured the same. Depending on where you are located, that may be a good deal. The TrueCar is approximate of course.

I wanted a 2010 just for the price and I bought a 2011 in October 2010 because it had all the options I wanted on it. It was slim pickins around that time. I say don't settle and get what you want. Go to the dealership at the end of the month when they are desperate to meet their quota! I ended up getting mine cheaper than I would have gotten the 2010 I almost SETTLED for!!!

I got the 2011 4x4 TRD off road access cab with all the options for 29,199. Also got a factory 500 rebate which brought my purchase price down to 28,699 plus 2.9% financing for 72months. 2010's from what they had left where going from 27k to 29k... the dealers were not willing to negotiate on the 2010's so I choose the 2011.

No tax here, just title, licence and regestration fees of about $150

When I bought my 2011, I wanted to get a 2010, but none of the local dealers had any left. I bought mine on December 31st of 2010.

Good luck finding a new 2010 locally.

very close poll, i say 2010 and save your self some money. but if you walk in with cash to buy a 2011 you can probably bargain with them. good luck!

I went to the dealership and decided on the 11 because I think I got a really good price. I got everything you are looking for except the 4x4. TRD off road with the JBL and I got them to throw in running boards and they added an extra year of service and I walked out the door at 27,000.00

Hey! That's awesome! Mine ended up being around $26,500 otd. I think I got a good deal. I had been dealing with them for months online while I checked all the other dealerships.

I was looking new and had the cash but decided to buy a low mile 08 with the packages i wanted (SR5/TRD) for $20,500 OTD. Let someone else take the $7000 hit on a 2011. Mine has 24K miles and not a scratch. I bought one new car in my life and vowed i would never do it again.....because EVERY truck or car i see on the road...every single one of them is ......USED...LOL I got over being the first owner a couple cars ago and learned my lesson when I went to trade it a few years later.

Besides that I put at most 6K miles a year on a vehicle because I ride my bike in the spring summer and Fall 90% of the time.

They had one new 2010 on the floor for $26K But I decided most of my truck has been depreciated and for 24K miles I saved $7K. Good used Tacoma's are harder to find than new ones.

I was looking for a used Tacoma and the one used car dealer wanted more for a used 2010 than what I could buy a new 2011 for, the used car salesman was a Badger, I asked "Whats the wiggle room on the price?"
He said "Wiggle Room? I will show you wiggle room, and he started dancing and wiggled his hips back and forth!

Bought a new '10 this January for a steal. Was looking at '11s but I found exactly what I wanted and they were pushing to clear the lot of all 2010s. I walked OTD for $26.5K (I had a customer loyalty and military discount too) with the following accessories thrown in: Factory bluetooth, iPod interface, TRD floor mats, bed extender, Nfab side steps, hood deflector, and window tint all 'round. It wasn't a 4x4 (which is what I was looking for gee-whizzes) but this is my daily driver... in hot/dry South Texas where bedrock is only 4" under soil, 4X4 is nice off-road but rarely a requirement.

Good luck... either way it's a win.
