    Hello all,

    My name is Rick

My wife and i just sold our 1998 Ford Ranger 3.0 XLT 4x4 5 speed with 154,000 to a famiy member and happily purchased a 2017 blazing blue pearl Tacoma, auto, 4x4, DCSB from Corwin Toyota in Bellevue (Omaha) Nebraska.

Had the front end paint protection, rust and sound proofing added, as well as remote start.

only other things i want to add in the near future are...
Front 2 side windows tinted as well as the top windscreen
    all 4 mud flaps

Love the truck so far only 140 miles driven in one week. Was a little worried about hearing about the frame corrosion recall on the 2005-2010 taco's. Hope it does not become an issue on this Gen. thats why we are glad to get the undercoat done right away. Also had a lot of corrosion on the Ranger too, had to replace the rear leaf spring shackles and hangers on that 3 months ago (completely rusted and rotted away) to be able to sell it.

Well it is part of the rust proofing, undercoating package i bought. It is a cream colored foamy type spray the gets sprayed or injected not 100% sure up into the interior places of the exterior panels like inside the hood support frame, in the inner door/s, inside the tailgate itself, far up into the bed and all 4 wheel wheels, so that it quiets everything up but mainly keeps things from rusting the inside out over time.

Then i have the bottom frame and all the suspension and cross members in the traditional black undercoating.

Its an AUTO, that is what wife and i wanted, better for towing, I have a small bass buddy boat on a trailer. Easier in stop and go traffic, and it is her truck to so she can drive whenever she wants/needs too, she could not drive my 5 speed Ranger (did take her out a few times, but she never mastered it comfortably.) She has a mint 98 Subaru Forester auto!

I love it, the truck/ECU is still learning and getting better, and i am getting used to a 6 speed automatic. I have mainly always driven 4 speed auto's in past.

Still loving and getting used to this truck more and more! One pet peeve that came up was the aftermarket remote start kit (pursuit) aftermarket installed by the dealer for $399 (3 part discount for that and rust proofing and paint protect) is that normal Toyota thing that the engine will shut off no matter what, when any door is opened when remote start is running the engine. So i have to strategize when on how to use it, still handy but kinda silly and stupid on a close to $40,000 vehicle and the aftermarket lady did not warn of tell me of this until the night i picked it up after the kit was already installed. :(

Also kinda of worried about the low trans fluid issue, but mine does not seem to be exhibiting any conditions on the TSB related to having low fluid, so i don't know if i should go through the hassle of taking it to the dealer and hoping they do it right or at all, or ask them to check it again at the 5,000 Toyota care service appointment??? Should i pursue the TSB? Does it apply to 2017's or just 2016's? Does the .1 rev for trans shifting apply to the 2017's?

Also not really bummed but kinda/maybe, that my VIN starts with a 3, so my truck was assembled in Mexico. I did not research this before buying, so my fault on that. My previous Ranger was built on twin cities MN

But still a very happy new Toyota owner and look forward to the first road trip vacation we will take someday in this new rig!!! :burnrubber:
