Well...I officially abandoned ship. My 2019 has felt like shit since day 1. Even though the axle TSB made it better this truck has just never felt like it should. My local dealer hooked it up and gave me a smoking deal on new Tundra Crewmax TRD OR. It’s far superior to the Tacoma. I loved the looks of my Tacoma and that’s about it. I can’t justify keeping a vehicle that expensive only for looks and getting pissed off every time I drive it. Between the initial problems, the torque converter shudder issue, and generally terrible ride quality I was over it. Best of luck to you guys with your Tacoma’s. 8F35053D-5AE7-4999-A33A-BA892D36CA02.jpg

The tundra is amazing. The 5.7 motor is a beast. Especially when you press the tow haul button. Only bad thing is that you can’t pass a gas station. In the winter I got 12 mpg and summer I got 15. Everything else was exceptional. 2014 Toyota Tundra Crewmax TRD off road 4x4.

Mine does it at start up and when still as well as under 40mph, generally 25-30mph- feels like an ABS pulse. Always the same duration and intensity. No effect on performance, just annoying. Done it since new.

    Looks nice!

Hope it came with free gas for 2 years to fill that tank.

I’ve been beating the crap out of my brakes on my 2019. Hard stops. Long brake stops. Only using my hand brake sometimes. It seems to be getting better

I had a 2014 Hemi Ram that was pretty thirsty. However, this thing has a 38 gallon tank, which I didn’t even know existed. Filling it up is going to hurt. That’s why I bought a Leaf a few months ago just for commuting to work (2 hours round trip). It pays for itself if I actually drive it, but I struggle with forcing myself to leave the truck and the Leaf often ends up being left in the garage.

I believe it. I test drove Tundra before buying Tacoma: really liked the Tundra...but had to push my eyes back into their sockets when I saw the EPA numbers on the window sticker...

I have this same issue and my dealer is looking at it on Friday. Same as the transmission issue. My service rep said they are awaiting a software update to solve it.

Let me know what you find out. Performance is not affected at all on mine- as I said, just annoying.

Same. I honestly wouldn’t have even brought it up if it wasn’t for this thread. It’s just annoying and if they’ll fix it I’m happy about it.

Please.....like 13mpg is so much worse than the 16-17 the TRD off road gets. Unless you actually believe that one post that guy had who got 24mpg lol.

Crazy that a lot of people are doing the same and dumping this truck. Makes me feel like I wasn’t crazy when I did the same last year.

    I consistently get 23-24 in my 2019 TRD-OR and got 24-25 in my 2017 SR5.

Mine is a 2018 SR5 Access Cab. I noticed the shuddering when slowing down not long after buying it. Took it to my dealer at 2000 miles. I was told this is normal for a Tacoma. I don't know, I don't remember the used 09 Tacoma I bought (same model) with 125K doing this.

I'm reading the comment from the dealer in my service invoice on my '18. They wrote "Brakes are in great condition. No issues at this time". In retrospect, I don't think they even bothered taking the truck on a test drive, so they really didn't do due diligence.

I'm finding the truck does not drive smoothly. Just going down a boulevard, it feels a bit jittery to me. This is a light truck- it should ride smoother.

I just made an appointment with another dealer. Truck now has 5200 miles. They're going to have a tech ride with me. Hopefully I get some satisfaction this time. Will keep everyone posted.

One other thing with the truck. It surges sometimes just before coming to a complete stop. Feels like transmission is dropping into a higher gear. Anyone else feel that? (6 cyl, auto).

    Order date July '18.

I almost bought a Tundra also when I was looking at trading in my Taco, but every single Tundra I test drove, about 3 of them, all had a gas pedal vibration that I knew would drive me nuts. It was minor but enough that I knew it would drive me nuts.

    Went with the 4runner instead.

Congrats on your purchase though. Beautiful truck.

Thanks. It’s funny how things work. I actually went in thinking I wanted a 4 Runner. I test drove 3 of them and they all had vibration in the steering wheel which I knew would drive me crazy. The Tundra is super smooth.

You are correct. They all do. Mine is starting to piss me off LOL.

Funny the tundra had ZERO steering wheel vibration, or any other for that matter, but all 3 I test drove had gas pedal vibration.

I am hoping some new tires, and a road force balance helps with the vibration.

I hope they fix my brake vibration and stuttering around 45mph. It’s annoying.
