If you enjoy manuals, get one. I love my 2017 Off Road manual. We are a dying breed, and unfortunately Toyota Tacoma is about the only truck left that still offers a manual on their upper trim levels. That surely will change too, unfortunately. So if you like them, get one now before they die a sad, lonely death.

“Clutch crap”... I’m pretty sure it’s not the same experience.

Guys, Please. If you love the MT then have at it. "Clutch Crap" includes Maintenance, traffic drivability and just plain extra effort. It sucks in traffic!!! You also have to understand that probably 95% or more of Tacomas are "Pavement Princesses" and gain no benefit with the MT. I've been driving a MT since before many of you were born and am very good at it. Been there, Done that, Got the tee shirt. Most of the bitching about the auto here on TW is that guys haven't taken the time to learn to drive it.

It all boils down to what you want. I'll bet most of you hard core MT guys will change your mind in a few years unless you need it for a specific purpose. (If you can still find them in a few years)

    Enjoy your trucks.

I think most people are just correcting you when you said that “you can drive an automatic like a stick without the clutch”. They are very different.

Exactly. Shifting an automatic is lame. When I drive an automatic I put it in drive. If you think it's anything like a manual, to select a gear and wait 3 seconds for the transmission to respond, and still have it do what it wants, you're fooling yourself.

I personally believe that having a manual is a lot safer. If every car on the road was driving a manual you'd have less accidents.

Secondly, traffic is not hard at all. You pop in first and crawl. if your timing is good you don't even have to touch the brake or gas.

    Negative.

This is FL, we have 16 year olds and 160 year olds, not much in between.

    It would be a bloodbath.

I don't drive much around Florida. I only drive Arizona, Nevada, California and I have witnessed so many people texting, doing other stuff instead of driving. I get in the and just row those gears.

This was a huge reason why I went with the Tacoma. Pretty sure the Colorado doesn't have a 6 speed diesel combo and if they do it's well over 40k
