No your wording was fine lol. It's just, this is TW and assuming something is meant as a compliment is like being a new fish in prison, you let your guard down for a minute, boom you get shanked in the back on the way to the canteen.

Maybe in Kansas, but not in a place with steep hills leading up to stop signs at the top!

    Giggle giggle.

It's like this thread turned into the opposite of this:

Manual transmission Fan Club and BS thread (All Generations Welcome)

You can still get a "New 4X4 Taco" in a manual, so everyone settle down and get what you like. There's no need to argue.

People who drive manuals are definitely far superior to the lazy, braindead sheep who don't though. That's just cold hard fact, and indisputable. Heeeheeee. Wooooot!

Hills are still safe if you know how to properly drive a stick. My dad didn't let me drive until I could start up a hill beside my house without rolling backwards or tearing up the grass. And it's a really steep hill. (I can take pics if needed)

Yep. If you don't know how to hill start, you best get you that nice friendly automatic. You're not learning on my truck anyway (unless you're my daughter, but then you're doing the clutch job while I supervise)

I really like how you can read my mind and tell me I am lying to myself. I don't care what anyone else thinks about heavy traffic and a manual. They are not me. I *choose* to drive my manual and not my wife's automatic when I make trips because I like it better. Traffic or no. What anyone else thinks about a manual in traffic is irrelevant to me. Just because *you* think it is terrible doesn't mean every person on the planet does.

If *you* have to justify that you are better by dropping names (who again you are really good at reading the mind of unless you can provided credited information to what you are stating - and even if you can it is still irrelevant to my choices) then have at it. I will continue to enjoy driving my manual in every situation on the road because it is what I enjoy.

Yep, people with autos think moving the lever is the important thing about shifting when actually it's what the left leg is doing.

Moving the lever is also not actually shifting. The transmission is still shifting, you are just limiting how high it can shift, not how low it can shift. You can be in "S5" and not be in 5th gear. That is not manual in any way, even if the shifting is the "important part"

True dat. I had a friend sell a MT Dodge Ramcharger 4X4 ~1990 due to his "idea" that it would be "uncontrollable" on snow/ice due to the MT. At that point I didn't have any MT vehicles and drove my auto 454ci camaro everywhere (snow/ice included)with the torque of the big block and auto overpowering the rear brakes and pushing the rear past the front unless I shifted to neutral every time I tried to stop. It would literally start spinning the rear tires when stopped and start rotating the car.

When I got my MT Ranger in 1995 I learned just how much more control I had on snow and ice due to the clutch and realized how full of shit he was. That's why I laugh whenever anyone says autos are so much better on snow/ice etc.

The automatic vs. manual debate is like the disk brake vs. drum brake debate, there really is no winning.

Get what you like, and be happy.

I don't believe either MT or AT is "better", it's just what you want to spend your hard earned dollars on that makes the difference.

This I can completely agree with! My reply was based on someone asking about a manual (so obviously they were interested) and being told "get an automatic it is better". It is better for some people (also debatable LOL) but really, if someone is asking if a manual is available, a response of "just get an automatic" isn't really helpful to that person.

Hands on the wheel and shifter, not on a phone. Also, I pay a lot more attention to the ACT of driving my MT truck than I do in my wife's slushbox vehicle.

Car accidents have been on the rise for the past 20 years. So has the increased sales and use of automatic transmissions.

    Am I wrong?

Ah young stick cricket, first master the double clutch with a broken syncro gear maneuver, and then the three way clutch, brake and accelerator pedal push for preventing a stalling engine maneuver while coming to a stop, and you will earn my respect as a competent manual transmission ninja.
