So I just bought a new 2017 Off-Road Access Cab. Lots of good, but road and wind noise is a major bad. Things I've done so far:
    - Put 2" gun case foam over the vents between the cab and bed.
    - Used 3M automotive tape (grey stuff) to tape down the access door weather stripping.
As far as I can tell, neither made any material difference, which surprised me given the praises sung about both in the forum.

I'm going in on Tuesday to get the rear window rubber replaced -- not related to the noise, it was scuffed up when I got the truck. And they said there is a TSB on the front door window molding that will reduce the noise (I'm sceptical since the noise is pretty clearly from the doors).

I also ran it through the touchless car was today and there was a little water leakage from the top of the driver's side access door (getting past the weather stripping) and from the top of the window on the driver's side access door (not sure how these are installed, but I'd think it shouldn't leak).

My question is, any other thoughts on noise reduction that may work. I've looked through the forums and other than possibly ripping the entire interior apart to put in sound deadening material (not gonna happen) I haven't really seen any changes that actually make a difference.. It's bad enough that my wife basically doesn't want to be in the truck at highway speeds so I really need to find a fix.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

Well that's a hell of a first post James. Welcome to Tacoma world. Seems like you'll fit right it.

My suggestion is to let the dealer replace the seals first and go from there. But if it's as noisy as you claim perhaps have them go for a test ride with you

On a positive note, I got Husky X-Act floor mats and a Lund Genesis Tri-Fold Tonneau Cover and I'm happy with both. :)

Dude the Tacoma is actually a quiet vehicle. You must have major problems that only a dealer could fix. Posting about it on the internet sure isn't going to fix it. Welcome to TW...
If it's brand new I wouldn't touch it. Take it to dealer and make them fix it. First though I would ride in a new identical truck and see if it's quieter. Get a db meter.

Something sounds wrong. My truck is very quiet and I'm on 35's.

What vehicle are you coming from?

I'm coming from a 2005 Sport Trac, so my expectations are pretty low on sound. If it's quiet under normal circumstances then there's a problem.

Engineers and designers should immediately address all the design flaws and faulty parts going forward.

I found mine was very noisy compared to my 2006 Taco..... I thought most of the noise was from the rear of the cab and I removed all that crap and sealed around those sloppy air vents and sprayed sound-proofing onto the rear wall.... It seemed to help considerably... Dyna Mat might have been a better solution....
I find now that with a high cross wind, I get screaming from the rear doors (weather stripping is crap, I guess)... And also the daily road noise that I notice seems to come from the driver's side rear door seal.....!!

Working on a solution as we speak..

Noticed a little wind noise too. Seems to be coming from where the doors meet. If I lean forward in the seat it goes away, straighten back up and can hear it.
Consider it to be minor but never noticed until after applying 303 to all the weather strippng.

That title made me Lol. I noticed my Access Cab was a little bit louder in terms of cab noise than A DCSB rental I drove. Also the engine exhaust sounded throatier and more truck like on my Access Cab 6MT than the double cab.

So I've Dynamat'd the access doors, the rear wall and where the floor storage bins are under the back seats. I don't think it made any real different. dB meter on the phone doesn't show any difference at 55mph. I do like the feel of the access doors when they close now -- more of a solid thump when they close.

Tried putting some drip line between the weather stripping and the doors, also didn't seem to make a difference.

The foam over the rear cab vents seems to make some difference, but not a huge amount.

Not really psyched to try and pull the headliner down, but may try that next. Also thinking about adding some type of insulation against the back wall behind the trim panel and on top of the dynamat.

    55mph?

    I think you're hearing the rear-end howl.

Close the door on a dollar bill and pull out the dollar bill. If there is no tension on it mark the location on a picture. Give that picture to the dealer so they know that you smart enough to do their work fore them and cant B.S. you around.

All access cabs are noisy due to the pressure flaps being so close to the driver. (the flaps that relief the door slam air) This causes more cabin noise on an access cab due to the thin seats.

    And again, its a truck.

No complaints with mine, much quieter than the Prius it replaced.

Nothing yet. They are supposed to replace the weather stripping but I keep getting an its on order response. I actually wouldn't mind the noise level that much if it didn't sound like a window is part way down.
