FYI, there were a few changes with the SPC's UCA's. See link below, post 105. There were sent out with 4 washers per side, now with 2. The 4 washer design resulted in UCA binding and sometimes failure so they changed it a little while ago.

    Resurrecting this page.

Need some help. I somehow managed to throw away the sleeves. How can I get the sleeves? Do I need to contact SPC and get them or is there another offroading shop I can get the sleeves from? Would rather go this route than order a whole new bushing set from wheelers.

    Thanks in advance.

I would honestly cut my losses and just order some TC UCAs, sell the SPC ones to a new TW member

Works for me. In the meantime, I will be keeping the LR's and calling Wheelers tomorrow to see if I can get some more of the sleeves. Thanks for your help.

One of my bushings has some serious squeek, even though it's lubed up properly. My UCAs have less than 25 miles :(

I contacted Wheelers and they don't sell the LR UCA sleeves by themselves. So, I contacted LR directly, and they had extra sleeves. For all 4 including shipping is $19.

Yes, but there is still squeaking coming from the left bushing. Not as loud, but still noticeable from outside the cab.

Fire. Set it on fire. Or just drill it out.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I'm changing my bushings out and was wondering if pressing them out is safer than cutting. I did notice a few folks cut into the bushing housing so anyone here had success with pressing?

Its a flanged bushing, prevents a normal press and the shape is a pain to deal with.
If you grind a 45* to the inside edge, pie notch the top with dremel, fold flange.
Then you can use a press.
eatsleepstacos just used a sander disc and ground the flange off.

Ok awesome picture....makes things much clearer. The new bushing (25476) eliminates that flanged type sleeve correct? The kit I purchased seems to be just a urethane bushing that sits inside the housing.

    The Spec-Ride? then yes.
Is a newer style bushing too, beyond the Spec-Ride.

That pic is a LCA but is the same as the UCA.
I cut the SPC UCA a couple years ago doing this bushing replace.
Messed with a set of LCAs for a Whiteline bushing install and realized i needed to get that flange out of the way.
    Tools that helped...

    Stuff and things
This thread is a bit dated, but I wanted to post my experience with this company. First of all, I currently have the first gen UCA, the one with the shitty non-greaseable ball joint and okay-ish bushings. I installed them sometime in 2013, aaand promptly forgot all about them (I know. I didn't know shit back then). Fast forward to a couple of months ago when my UCA ball joint exploded in my driveway, and I was immediately shocked by two things: 1) The absolute horrible state that I let them get in, and 2) my realization that I have been driving on borrowed time for about the last five years, at least. I mean, these things failed a long time ago, and I consider myself extremely lucky these decided to crap out on me in my driveway instead of on the highway going 75. I take the family on at least one extended trip every year, not to mention all the times I've taken this thing on tough tracks and the daily driving. It's just amazing that I haven't died from a catastrophic failure of my front end....

Anyhoo, I first replaced the ball joints with the greaseable version, thinking that I'll do the bushings when it gets warmer. But in doing my research on swapping out bushings (DIY style), I realized that it looked like a major pain in the ass, and I was stuck using the old style bushing and not the kewl looking new X-Axis bushing that they have out now, and was contemplating just swapping out the UCAs for new ones. Well, I called them up to discuss this, and it turns out they have an upgrade program, where you can swap out the 1st gen design for the new one for a fraction of the cost. Brand new, these things are like $860.00; but with this program you're only paying $229 (or something like that. I can't remember the exact cost just I was too excited). Obviously, you have to prove that you have the old design by sending them your old ones, but since I'm local, shipping shouldn't be too much. Anyway, I'm going through this process right now, but I hadn't seen anyone mention this yet so I thought I'd throw it out there for anyone that has the older SPC UCA and wants to upgrade it for brand new ones for less than $300. This company is awesome to work with and I'm glad I stumbled into this, anyone having thoughts on which UCA to go with, you can't go wrong with SPC IMO.
