I would like to offer my services....Send your sickening smelling new truck to me. I'll consume 4 or 5 White Castle's and a cup of lima bean soup, take your truck for a quick ride, and you'll never complain about new car smell EVER again. This I will promise you.

Are we sure it's offgassing from plastic? or formaldehyde from the carpet? lab testing complete? results?

The new car smell makes me feel nauseous as well. That plastic off-gassing is gross, I can't stand it! :puke:

I love my new truck smell. I rarely roll the windows down cuz I don't want to air out that new truck smell. In my last 2015, even a 1 1/2 years later, if it sat outside in warm weather, then you hop in, still got the new truck smell. I don't febreeze, smoke or eat in my truck. Hold your farts if you can. If my passenger farts in my truck and taint the new truck smell , they are walking home.

This might be a case where using the K&N electrostatic cabin air filter might be helpful. It has it's own fresh smell that lasts for several months until recharging it with the stuff that comes in the cleaning kit.....which reminds me I don't smell it any more and need to check it and recharge the electrostaticness in mine..........

    Reality:
Many people have sensitivities to VOC's (volatile off contaminates). It IS real. It CAN put those with the sensitivities in the hospital.
I have a lot of experience in this area. I'm not sensitized, but I'm building for a family who has members who are. Building a new custom home low/no VOC is quite the challenge. :goingcrazy:

My Tacoma never bothered me but my wife's new Acura did. Tasting the "new car smell" on the back of my tongue really bothered me and I insisted that we take the truck everywhere when the family was travelling. A year later, a couple of messy kids and a good detailing and I don't notice it anymore.

You probably don't want to wear a respirator while you're driving; it would probably result in an FBI file. But it seems like lots of fresh air flowing through is a good idea and maybe spring for an interior detailing.

    Good luck.

Just a thought, if the new car smell really bothered you. Maybe wipe the interior down with a damp rag, then use some 303. I don't notice much smell with 303. Also possibly vacuum the truck out. That may cut down the new car smell. Also leave the windows down for a couple hours. My new truck smell isn't overwhelming.

And you have built how many homes with this issue?
    My point = context.
And, I was quick to admit my error.
