Bottom line first, you're getting cancer. -Crom :)

Both the scent and what produces it varies somewhat in different kinds of cars. Most of the interior of an automobile consists of plastic held together with a number of adhesives and sealers. Such materials release volatile organic compounds, via outgassing or offgassing. These fumes are generally attributed mixtures of many different chemicals offgassing and to plasticizers, although their vapor pressures are very low and they are not considered volatile.[1]

Researchers tested more than 200 U.S. vehicles of model years 2011–2012 for chemicals such as organobromine compounds (associated with brominated flame retardants, or BFRs), organochlorine compounds (e.g., polyvinyl chloride, or PVC), and heavy metals that off-gas from various parts such as the steering wheel, dashboard, armrests and seats.[2]

Some recommend keeping new cars well ventilated while driving, especially during the summer. A 1995 analysis[3] of the air from a new Lincoln Continental found over 50 volatile organic compounds, which were identified as coming from sources such as cleaning and lubricating compounds, paint, carpeting, leather and vinyl treatments, latex glue, and gasoline and exhaust fumes. An analysis two months after the initial one found a significant reduction in the chemicals. The researchers observed that the potential toxicity of many of these compounds could pose a danger to human health.

The total volatile organic compound levels can reach 7,500 micrograms per cubic meter.[4] Concentrations decayed approximately 90% over a three-week period. Over sixty chemical compounds were identified inside the interiors of the four vehicles in this study.

In some instances the odor results from a manufacturing defect. According to official documents of Bentley Motors (BT26), an "obnoxious odor" in Bentley cars for model years 1999–2002was traced to a rust inhibitor.[5]

Oh and unsubbing because thaird gen problems.

    Okay.

I dunno. You complain about it and it's making you sick, as you say. An ozone machine is cheap and would be used with every car you purchase from here forward to alleviate your issue.

There are people who literally get horrifically ill from off gassing new car "smell" and they fix it with ozone machines.

So that's your fix. If you'd rather complain about why you shouldn't have to buy one and that the smell makes you sick instead of fixing the issue for small money, then fuck.

    Let's bitch.

This condition is only specific for the Magnetic Grey color. The leftover radiation from the Fukishima Nuclear Reactor accident somehow (by osmosis perhaps) found its way into the complex coloring compounds that are employed in the vehicle and are offgassing protons and neutrons. Do you have a nuclear expert in your area that you can discuss a remedy with?

    Preferably a homeless nuclear expert!

How did your typing improve so drastically as you quoted a film from memory? Perhaps if all your posts were in the form of movie quotes you'd get your point across better and have less haters to deal with!

This reminds me, I was overseeing a pollution cleanup this week with some Coastie MST's and they are required to wear VOC monitors while working the incident scene. We jumped in their brand new Ram truck to get to another location and within a few seconds their monitors started going off. I guess the VOC's from plastics was enough to set the alarms.

If you have a garage, leave the windows down for several nights, with maybe a fan , good luck.

Drive with your head out the window, or you could just go overboard with airfreshners and eventually get sick of them too. Your choice

Everytime you drive it turn the heat on full blast in every position ie. defrost and vents and let the heat bring out the vapors from the plastic and rug. Then open your windows and let all the air out. Do this for like a month and that new smell will be gone.
