Haha at least that's the mentality. Sure I'd love to have a Cummins, or a Just a Dodge/Ford/Toyota full size for that matter. But my truck is more than what I need and I love it, don't plan on getting rid of it ever.

Let's be honest, these trucks are built great aside from frame rust issue.

So they just unveiled the 2015 Chevy Colorado. Give or take your opinion on the aesthetics of the truck, it looks like a decent offering. Not saying I"ll buy one, but the key to this truck is they offer 3 engine choices - 2 gas choices, and yes, finally, 1 diesel choice, a 2.8 liter I-4 Duramax Turbo Diesel. I'm guessing if they kept the weight down to 4500 pounds or less, this truck with this diesel could probably see 30+ MPG on the hwy and perhaps 23-25 MPG in the City. So now that there is some actual competition in the segment for the first time in YEARS, will Toyota respond the way we want them to? Or are they just going to drag their feet and keep offering the Tacoma with old technology dated engines while the rest of the Toyota fleet gets upgraded? The 4runner has had the dual VVT-i 4.0 V6 since 2010 while the Tacoma still has the single VVT-i 4.0 V6 that gets worse mileage with less power. The Tundra made in the same plant as the Tacoma even gets the 4.0 dual VVT-i V6.

I've owned rangers, s10's and Colorado and none are near as good as the 2 Toyotas I've owned. They lack the power and gas mileage. I pulled a tandem trailer overloaded all the way from Arkansas to Nevada. Those other ones wouldn't have made it out of the driveway!

Nice looking truck, but it will take some time to knock toyota out of the number 1 mid size truck spot.

Chevy has never been know for their reliability and still isnt. The diesel option might promise some good MPG, but well see how it holds up to long term reliability and maintenance costs

Seem like every chevy owner I know is always at the dealer getting some type of service light repair .

Not a vehicle id want to own without a warranty thats for sure.

Being forced to drive a Colorado for work, I am very intimate with all of their issues. It looks like they fixed my two biggest complaints which are horrible chassis design and a gutless power plant.

As frustrated as I am with some of the lack of innovation on the Tacoma, there is NOTHING GM could do to make me want to jump ship. The day a new Colorado outruns my Tacoma...is the day that I pull the trigger on a supercharger.

Better start saving, the supercharger is coming in less than a year.

The 2016 Chevy Colorado will come with the option of a Diesel Engine, which Toyota will never come out with. The design of the 2015 Chevy Colorado is just as good if not better than the Tacoma (which now is a very old design), not to mention Chevy gives you the option of leather interior which you can't get (or can't afford) from Toyota. Toyota will either be forced to change the Tacoma drastically or it will lose a lot of sales. No matter how much trouble GM has had in the past, they are putting out great vehicles now and I've seen just as many Chevy's with extreme high mileage as I've seen Toyota's. I personally think Toyota will have an uphill battle competing the Tacoma against the Colorado especially when the 2016 Diesel becomes available.

It's an illusion, the windows are smaller, making the panels below them taller, and the box is taller making the truck look taller overall. I'd bet if you got them side by side, they're damn near the same size.

Is that good or bad in your eyes? A mid sized truck is what a 90s full sized truck is now, I personally don't need a full size and I would have been perfectly fine if they left the 2nd gen the same size as the first gen.

Soooo in 2017 when all the "super crazy awesome new 2015 colorados" are sitting in the shops cause they aren't reliable and are going to break down every 2 weeks, what will they say when they see a 350k mile first gen taco drive past them?

And I am wondering why they put a "2012" interior shot in to a 2014 taco ... I thought that HU was for early 2012s and the rest got touch screens standard.

Looks like alot of GM diesel/Tacoma hybrid swaps may be coming down the pipe. I'm game.
