I will most likely entertain it although the wife is completely against it as i had a 2005 Colorado and it had its share of issues and i traded it in on my Taco i have now. But lets be real, my Tacoma has not been problem free either and this is an old platform, you would think Toyota would have had it figured out by now. If the new Colorado gets 25+ on the highway it might be hard not to entertain it. My father has a 2013 Tacoma and he is trading it in as soon as the Colorado is available, so will check out his and see how it goes for a year before I jump ship back to Chevy.

I get 28 MPG highway. PreRunner DCSB 4x2

He's trading it in??? At least haggle and get a good deal. And what problems have you had? I have 100K miles of neglectful lack of maintenance and it runs just fine.

    Really? Is it?

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/new-members/329390-first-tacoma.html

I get 24 mixed (And rising). Used to get about 20 or 21 until I bought an UltraGauge.

As for me getting 28 MPG hwy let's just say traffic doesn't like me :p jk lol you can get that too if you read that thread and research.

I have a 3" drop kit which is about to come off and be lifted for a total of 5" lift, that is sure to drop my highway MPG, but I am also getting much lighter wheels and tires with low rolling resistance to balance it out. Other than that I am stock.

I believe the new chevys are getting diesels? I think they will hurt the sales however they most likely wont make much a dent, the reason at least in my area, just outside of NYC compacts rule is they are maneuverable.... however if they are like the current chevys there minute of fame wont go for that long and soon be pushed to the side

Yeah hes trading in, got a good deal on his Tacoma and well we all know how well the resale is so he should do fine.

All my issues so far have been covered under warranty but the truck has still had them none the less:

*Passenger window switch quit working (Fixed under warranty)
*Smog pump (Looked at, cleaned, cel cleared, under warranty)
*Rear brake squeal (Fixed per TSB)
*drive line vibration (going in for TSB)
*Front suspension squeaking and creaking like crazy over bumps ( getting looked at during TSB appt.)
*Engine pings like crazy, all grades of gas (Toyota has no cure at this time)

Don't get me wrong i really do like my Tacoma and i am religious about my maintenance and so far my issues have been covered under warranty, we will see what shows up once that is expired. So many on here act like these trucks are golden but they have there share of issues like all vehicles. I have been getting 22mpg on the highway and about 17 in the city which isn't to bad for what it is but it kind of sucks when my buddy's Hemi ram is pulling the same or better highway mpg then me.

4223 pounds on the scales for my 11 trd off road access cab with a full tank of gas.
hoping Toyota picks up and gets off their sixes. time to play catch up, Chevy.GMC, coming out with the new Colorado/canyon, with a smoker for power, ford talking of bringing the already built every where but here ranger back for a 15 or early 16 with a already here in the transit 5 banger smoker http://www.carreviews2015.com/2015-ford-ranger-return-usa/
time to play catch up Toyota, people in the usa also want diesel power and fuel mileage

My Tacoma was built in San Antonio and my silverado was labeled as Mexico and Canada....

Only problems with my 13 are annoyances - window creak (drives me fn nuts) cheap paint and minor crap like that as well as dealers 3 different ones that all tell me different things about service.

WE know they have good resale and the DEALERSHIP knows that, but I am just hoping he knows that because the dealership is a bastard and will feel no remorse in giving him a bad deal.

I haven't had any of those issues but I don't work that much with my truck (anymore) and btw do you know if I could get the dealership to fix my steering wheel shake? I don't really know how tsbs work

Even with a 4cyl you won't see 28 MPG if you drive it normally. The only way to beat EPA estimated is to learn how to drive efficiently. I couldn't believe it when I got 28 either, and of course my UG may be off but if it is it's only be a few %.

I got 27.7 over a TANK of gas (400+ miles) of daily driving with mine by going no faster than 65 for a full tank while commuting. Took a week worth of trips.

I'm not a double cab, true, but this was normal daily driving to work, to the grocery store, farting around on the weekend, etc.

You'd be surprised what a four with a stick can get.

I'm driving a '14 Double Cab, PreRunner, 2.7 and was extremely surprised to see a hand calculated 25.4 mpg's, after an almost 200 mile round trip (all highway, board flat) cruise pretty much set at 68 mph the entire way.

I was surprised it got that good, considering my mostly city use returns 16-17ish.

Yup. If you aren't lifted and are light on the top end speed, you can do really well with highway MPGs. When I get a crooked hair I'm gonna do a tank worth of 55 and under ONLY just to see what I can get. Prolly this winter when I can go without the AC too, just for shits and giggles.

Anyone else puzzled as to why these percentages do not add up to 100% ??

If a Tacoma is 70% US and 15% others for a total of 85%, what is the rest of the 15% made of?

I think that's the percentage of volume of stuff that is too ambiguous to assign one or the other.

For instance...the radio and nav assembly is a lot of parts, small parts, from lots of manufacturers all over the place. Plus the speakers, wiring, etc to go with it.

Add up all the stuff that isn't a fairly simple, straight-forward "Made In Taiwan" and I'll bet that's the missing %.

Yea, I assumed the 4550 was 'wet' or curb weight. 20 gals of fuel, tranny and diff fluid, brake fluid, engine oil, coolant, wiper juice, et al. Add all that shit up and you get more weight than many would believe.

Xaks, a little off topic but do you realize that your truck number is "666" in the bottom right corner?

If I were you; I'd get a set of those Toyota devil horns on the front grill!

That is great! I would love to have 27.7 mixed! That is incredible. I can get that on highway (If I pulse and glide like a boss) but city brings it down to 24 (likely I will get higher once my technique becomes better)

I used to have a 2.7 manual.... :pout: We sold it and got my v6 before I knew how to drive so well. I bet if I still had it I could get pretty good MPG, but I'm not sure the 4 cyls excel on the highway? City for sure

That's better than I get with CC. If you pusle and glide you could get 28-29 easily.

I'm soon to be lifted :notsure: but unfortunately I bet I will see a big drop because I am actually going up 5 inches from current. If I was stock I may not be able to get 28. But I plan to negate the lift by adding aero panels (except for the grille, for aesthetic purposes)

I said that earlier, so yes.

    Makes sense
