Times may change, but I don't subscribe to happy shiny people positivity ray of sunshine and it's ok smoke can be blown up my ass again. One can aim a lot higher than putting a new GM product in their driveway.

It would be pretty dang quickly if the vehicles burned it. Propane came on strong in the '70s 'til '80s for public transportation after the Arab Embargo . Oil doesn't set the pump price I realize but they employ a lot of people just to study markets and shareholders. They know what the end price will be and what we can bear for a norm. Notice motor oil never went back down from the bbl. highs 15 yrs. ago. Maybe a little but before that it was 1.00 a qt. for quality oil.

I just support it so we could quit importing from people that don't like us. Not that it would ultimately be cheaper. Be nice but I wouldn't expect it.

Same with diesel, my area the price per gal. offsets the improved mileage. Add in more oil for the engine, DEF and parts being higher it all comes out a wash. I used to dream of a diesel tacoma but we now have gas engines just as if not more dependable.(Well we did, not a dig at the 3.5 but it's still early to tell)

    If I towed, I'd want one.....but then I wouldn't drive a Tacoma.

They supposedly paid it back. I'm not holding the bailout over their heads it saved a lot of our manufacturing base. Just think if all the big 3 went away and we had a war? Who can gear up fast to produce what we need?

You can always aim higher, but I'm not buying a Toyota is all that, if any higher. Once again speaking from decades of experience.

It's always assumed that no one else would have stepped in or stepped up to to fill that vacuum. FCA is another lost cause because the sad part is about a Cummins is that it comes attached to a Dodge. The only one I'd touch now is Ford.

    Oh the Toyota fan boys....

FCA makes some nice products, I owned one from 2012-2016 that was very nice and trouble free. It rode like a dream and had tons of power.

Who's saying anything about being a "fan boy." I've stated my opinion about why a GM product will never find it's way in my driveway. This is the kind of snowflake, delicate flower positivity nonsense world we live in you state an opinion and snowflakes become butt hurt about it. The subform is the wrong one to get all jazed and gizzed up about a new Colorado model. How many people here realistically going to make that jump from a 1st gen to new Colorado? I'm sure there's a few, but this is a Tacoma forum.

Yes it is a Tacoma forum and I own a Tacoma and just bought a 4Runner trail edition. My feelings are far from hurt. I just find it funny how negative people on here are about anything not Toyota. Talk like other brands are total garbage and will self destruct in a few years. I've had way higher repair bills with my 2004 and now 2005 Tacoma than any of my previous GM products. IMO it's total blind brand loyalty. Very closed minded.

    Peace out

If you're going to use the term "fan-boy" in any forum based on a single thing you should probably just see yourself out.

Just look at the build thread
If anyone is paying $20 a gallon for DEF they're getting raped. It's $8 a gallon here.

I've owned BMWs, VW's, Mercs, Hondas, Mitsubishi, Nissans, and Toyotas. It's pathetic when people get hurt that I'm not open minded to buying a GM or a FCA product.

Already conceded it was an inflated price from a "last chance" gas station. Your input is dully noted though :deadhorse:

I love my bare bones 99 Taco I pat it everyday on the shifter and tell it ..."you're a great little truck"

Yep. Just like me. I've had higher bills with my 04 Tacoma than my old 99 RAM and my 05 Silverado.

The US Gov't took a multi-billion dollar loss on GM.

Also, GM doesn't even have a defense division--they sold what they had off to General Dynamics a long time ago. Same deal with Chrysler. AM General makes the Humvee, not GM. As for the replacement for the Humvee? Companies like Navistar and Oshkosh submitted designs for that. So did Ford. GM did not. Closest GM gets is the original Humvee engine is an old Detroit diesel, but I believe AM General produces that engine now.
