New Dashcam Adapter? SimpleUSB Gone

So I recently ordered my Viofo dashcam, and had bookmarked the Amazon page for one of the SimpleUSB adapters by Dongar Tech a while ago. Went to order the 12-pin adapter today only to find they're unavailable and don't know when or if they'll be back in stock! Does anyone have a different clean solution for powering the dashcam off of the mirror? Both 12 and 10 pin versions seem to have gone the way of the dodo bird... I thought it would be a quick google search for a different brand but this guy seems to be the only shop that makes these.

It doesn't really help if you are sold on using the power from the mirror, but I used one of these on the wiper fuse and it came out pretty clean.

same here I ordered camera and then went to get adapter and sold out, so I guess it the waiting game or take camera back

 

You can try messaging the creator on reddit, there was a guy on here saying it was his friend that was making the connectors

Not sure if that adapter will reach but I used this to mount my camera where the go pro mount is, it works well

So, looking at that SimpleUSB contraption on Amazon makes me wonder. What type of DC power connector is that on the back of the mirror? Or is it just 2 plain holes where you poke 2 bare wire leads into?

 

Two pins for power. But it's a 12-pin connector and some of the other pins are used for other things... dimming, compass, etc.

I ordered the adapter before i ordered a cam. Lol.

Works excellently. Definitely recommend it when it is back in stock.

 

Update: the seller contacted me after I sent an email through his website. Apparently the Coronavirus is to blame for the shortage in parts coming from China. Thanks Obama.

 

Same thing here. I ordered a Garmin Dash Cam 56 and it came today. But I couldn't order the 12-pin SimpleUSB adapter due to out of stock. I'm waiting on a few other parts to show up also, so that I can mount the 56 to the truck's existing GoPro mount.

 

That seems awkward to have to just poke 2 bare wire leads into the mirror. A shame they couldn't use a more standard type connector like a USB.

 

The original simplex adapter has a usb, just out of stock

If anyone is interested in a 10-pin, I ordered that one by mistake and he sent me the 12-pin and said I didn’t have to return the one I had. So if anyone needs a 10-pin, I’d just ask to cover shipping.
