I know it is temporary, but I just wanted to throw out a bit of caution.

My Lowes didn't have the bolts. Please just be sure they are Grade 10.9. It doesn't say on your packaging. They should be, just concerned.

Also, my rough calcs looked at the bolt bending due to the spacers as a pure shear and bending load, very similar to what you installed. The extra width of a washer stack or a larger, round or shaped spacer gives a lot of bearing area that makes the safety factor even better. Also, in a rear or side collision, those tube spacers would likely crush and be an injury problem (I have been rear ended several times. I got stories to tell about yielding and nom-yielding parts. Thankfully all minor.).

Again, I know it is temporary, but I just wanted to let you know.

Thanks Tony. The grade is 8.8. They are indeed temporary.

 

Cool! Just (another) note, metric Grade 8.8 is less capable than SAE Grade 8. You will want to upgrade those when you get your spacers. O'Reillys had 3 Grade 10.9 bolts for $4 when I did it.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure that part out. I also notice that you lose my PP information if you have to sign into paypal, pretty annoying.

Yeah, unfortunately google forms does not have that level of functionality with paypal.

I might just bite the bullet and do a full website at some point, but that is a ways out yet.
