We had a guy, that was authorized, come around and cut a shit load of plugs cause they were missing the ground, insulation had a crack or the end going into the tool had elec tape on it. He was just doing his job and doing it correctly and they roasted the hell out of him for costing the company so much money. I am not in construction any more but I hear it is the same way.

Sounds like running a wood lathe. I love doing it, I have a great time while I'm doing it. But man...chips and shavings EVERYWHERE...

Try grinding aluminum for 2 weeks straight. Even with protective gear the particles get in and irritate everything.

I was cutting channels into it and fly cutting it thinner. It was making little pieces of plastic about the size of a piece of rice. Threw them in about a 10' radius lol

Guys what do you think is the best bay to mount an LED bar on our trucks? I was thinking the lower valence with a 30" bar. I was told I have to have a front plate now. So thats out the window. My next thought is just get 2 smaller bars and put them on the sides of the plate but still in the lower valence. What you guys think is the best way to go about this. I was trying to keep the clean look with maybe a little bar. Now I am thinking like an avid bar with the LED bar welded into the bar. Thoughts?

Thats like what I want to do but I was informed I need a front license plate. That would block half of the light so I was thinking getting like 2 10" or what ever the size and put them on each side of the plate.

Ya i had to make the same decision, but when i looked at prices it was more for 2-10"-12" bars compared to one 36" bar. So i figured it made more sense to just go with the 36" and block some of the light. I have ran no front plate here in CT, and never got pulled over for it. It is illegal, next time you are on the highway pay attention to how many people have front plates. I bet 1 out of 10 cars wont have them. But then there are those stupid holes the dealership drills in the bumper. I think the lower valance is the cleanest looking spot for a LED light bar, behind the grill is cool but i think round offroad lights look better there. Personally i am not the biggest fan of avid bars or bullbars, but they might be a good choice if you are not ready to do some modifying and start cutting plastic :D

Yea I saw that on your build. Was wondering what happen to yours haha. Yea i was going to do a 30" in the bar. My friends dad is a cop and said I should have one, cause even if not doing anything bad it gives reason to stop you. He also said it could be a $200 ticket if the cop is well having a bad day.

I'm not sure if you need a bull bar to use it, but I've seen plate relocation kits before. I believe Westin or Avid sell them for instance.

That's a nice one. If I had the other one I'd be afraid to drive it much less go wheeling

    Hey Folks,

I posted a question about rear axles in the 1st gen section. ("Rear axle interchangeability")

Not much interest (or knowledge) so if any of my neighbors have any info it would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Jon

Jon, for your application, I think you can just swap over the axle without an issue. As long as the spring perches are in the correct location, you should be fine.
