Some dealerships will replace them, some will get them refinished, some will pay for half of the replacement, and some will tell you to screw.

"Its not the paint, its the preparation" I think. LOl. I drove to Greenwich, Ct last wkend and got a set of Sport rims and tires I saw for sale on here for $650. Came off a 2010 w/only 200 miles on them. They are the Bridgestones. Not really what I wanted with the new lift but they will do until I decide how to finish my FJ rims. How does the plasti dip hold up ? rattle can ? How much for powdercoat ? I'm thinking once they are done, put some nasty MT's on them and use them for winters and wheeling.

I cant help you with the spray paint or plasti dip, on rims at least.

I did get a price on powdercoat from a local place, they were asking $75/wheel that included blasting, prep and powdercoat.

If you want something to wheel with, you are probably better off spray paint them. That way you can touch them up easily.

I got tracking info on the parts. Looks like I'll be doing the bushing replacement this weekend. The catch, parts don't get here til Friday so I won't know if I've got everything I need until Friday night (should have everything but Boyd's posts in my LCA thread have me doubting). So, anyone want to have some fun cutting up the front end of a 2nd Gen on Saturday? :D

I plasti dipped a grill last year . It looked like shit after a couple car washes but I have no idea about it on wheels . I ended up sanding it off and painting it with a rattle can

Sounds good John, you need a hand doing anything with yours? I didn't realize you were doing tie rods this early.

Plastidip holds up well! With a wire wheel and windex as a prep, I haven't had any bubbling or chipping for months. It's also EASY as hell to put on! Four heavy coats and you're good to go man. No previous painting skills required!

I called a few places getting quotes, but I believe it was Ocean State Hot Coat in Warwick that was asking $75/wheel. I havent gotten anything done there so I cant comment on their work, but I plan on getting my FJ wheels powdercoated matte black to make knock off FJ TT wheels

You either have the bubbles or will have them. Mine are 08 with 70K on them.

None yet but soon all black.
Hey guys. Just wanted to let you guys know that I found my clunk lol. Went to some shop down the cape that works with lifted trucks and found the right lower control arm bushings slightly out of shape and that's why I'm hearing the noise. They tighten the bolt to it and doesn't make a clunk noise now but they should it should be replaced soon. Anyone know how to replace the bushing? I have no idea lol

Oh cool. I need to find a place near me, but the only shop near me is Rim Pro. They don't powder coat though, they only paint and refinish.

I heard a shop in my area does a new thing called hydro-dipping! That's a really cool process that I saw on American Chopper a year or so ago. Not sure about durability or cost though, because it's REALLY new.

I'm replacing all 4 of my bushings this weekend actually:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/217265-lca-question.html

Here's the thread I'll be following to get it done:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/176250-diy-lca-bushing-replacement-2005-tacoma-4x4.html

Not a quick and easy job, especially if they're rusted in.
