Some of you think this is not a redesign and I happen to agree. Clear difference from gen 1 to gen 2, but gen 3 didn't change much, or seem to give us the options we've been asking for.

Its funny cause if you based it solely on looks that 2nd gen or the sport blue in the middle looks the best, still looks great at 10 years old. But the interior and features of the new one are pretty nice. But I would agree same cab, almost same frame and a lot of shared mechanical components, same composite bed, its not a total redesign as gen 1-2 was. But we live in a different world now where manufacturers do this. Look at the super duty that thing has been unchanged for 20 years lol.

New Gen, new frame, new suspension, new engine. Why does the look have to change, it's the number 1 selling mid size truck. They won't make any major changes till that changes.

For one, going from a 4.0 to a 3.5 isn't going to sit well with many, despite some of the potential benefits. Most of us just want a diesel option like they offer in every other country with the Hilux. I see some improvements, but mainly things people weren't as concerned with.

I'm wondering how expensive this thing is going to be.

Same frame but "improved/stiffened" according to toyota. Same suspension "but improved". So no its not all new frame and suspension, improved but not all new.

This^ toyota isn't going to cut into current profit margins, and the updates and all the new toys/gizmos are gonna add to the price no doubt, some of you new 2016 buyers might be in for some sticker shock. But it is a nice truck no doubt.

Like the rest of the truck, and like every year in the past.

Revised styling, "improved frame", "improved suspension", hand me down engine. not even the interior is new as it's based off equipment in other models. Take the 5th gen 4Runners. That's a new model. New frame (120-150 frame), new engine (1GR with dual vvt-I) new interior and hand me downs from the full size Land Cruiser including KDSS, crawl control and terrain select.

It is the best selling midsize but unfortunately Toyota is behind the curve when it comes to innovation on this platform.

Redesign or not, that image makes me sad. The 2nd gen looks so much better than the new truck.

Why did they have to attempt to put a Ram grill on this poor truck? Maybe I will just give up and see if I can buy a good used 2nd gen with a M/T.

A new front. Most of the domestics have front ends that look like a freight train is coming through. Look at Kenlyns new ford page for example.

A new mid section, excluding that crappy throw back from the early tundra days on that back window of the double cab.

A new rear, with better suspension. I see the new leafs but, just leafs, in 2016 (2015). We were flying into different dimensions in back to the future at this point (1985 (1980)).

But seriously, at least they gave me the fucking go pro mount in the rear view. Cause I couldn't live without that.

    Too few to list.
The front end might look fugly but I'm betting the mpgs will be around 19 city, 24 hwy especially with that front lower valance and direct injection. Then again, wouldn't buy a truck for gas mileage.

It looks like they are trying their hardest to make it come in number 2 or 3.

Gen 3 or not, It just got full release today and I'm already wondering how many years before they give it another refresh.

Yeah, the point is that I'm already waiting for Gen 2.6. This thing sucks, and the images above show it.

Gen 2.0 was a good looking truck, well proportioned. This looks like it got socked in the nose and swelled up. Adding 3" to the front did nothing good. It's just a bunch of puffy plastic.

Its funny though there's already a fanboy thread on people who are going to buy one, guys trading their 2014's, sad, hope this dosent make the older trucks values plummet with a huge flocking to the newest and latest consumerism.

I'd rather spend my money restoring something like this.
