New gen or not?

I guess we may as well call it gen 3 anyway, even if its not as big a change as gen 1-2 was.

Yep. The difference is, he's using the facts.

 

So the blocky front end is what the North American customer wants. All the manufacturers have those, so I guess that's true. Myself I think the 98-99 F150 had one of the best looking front ends. Gen I Tundra is alright. Something that looks like it's meant to root around for truffles isn't real appealing to me. Although the TRD OR with the mesh grille looks much better than the Limited.

S: Not much. Maybe a seatbelt bracket! The base frame has been modified. The base frame rail design is similar but it’s not carryover. The body shell and body structure are new. For the structure, we use hot-stamped steel.

Interesting. Things like shock top hats, LCA's, UCA's, CV's, front diff and actuators, discs, drums, windshield, rear leafs, all new? Could be.

It does look like there is more new than carryover, though. Just get rid of the driveline vibe.

 

This article or no other I've read states that Toyota calls this a 3rd GEN. Where is everyone getting this from?

 

I don't think there will be a 2017 diesel.

 

Toyota is quoted as saying All-New Tacoma. Does that mean All New Gen 2?

 

We all have opinions, as we are entitled to, bottom line is the tacoma is the number 1 selling truck for a reason, I bet they will continue to be with the 3rd generation. I purchased toyota for quality,looks, amenities come second for me. I would buy the first gen toyota if that was the current body style for 2016. It will take 5-10 years of a proven truck from any other maker before I would consider buying one. Toyota not trying to please everyone, they know that is impossible, but they are trying to remain number 1,

 

It was all-new in 2012 as well; and no.

 

Toyota called the 2012 'refreshed', not all new.

 

Aaaahhhh.......How could I miss that? LOL. Not sure how I could be confused anyway. No one is ever presumptuous on here.

Haven't lost any sleep at all. Just see a lot of folks jump the gun every year. Waiting to hear from Toyota this is a 3rd GEN and see differences.
