    Hi there,

I am sure several people have asked this, but I literally just made an account and got on here. I purchased a 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport yesterday (first new truck ever) and I drove it home from the dealership which was a 4 hour drive. When the engine is warmed up and in park, there is a "ticking noise" I can hear it from inside the cab.... I wouldnt think this would be normal, I have checked the oil and all fluids.

Also the butt rear seats are not made to latch? seems to be U bolts for them, but mine absolutely will not latch.

Is there a tow mode? Drive 1 or Drive 2? I am about to crack open my manual again. Couldnt find any info on the seat problem.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Ticking is probably injector cleaning cycle.
No rear seat bottoms don’t latch, seat backs should.
Tow in S mode with ESC button on. That will change shift logic and lockout OD.

    Welcome to the forums!

No idea about the ticking noise. Don't hear it on mine.

For the rear seats, only the back portion latches. The bottom part of the seat doesn't have a latch. I suspect the U bolts are for child/baby seat things (can't think of the name right now lol)

Press the ECT button for towing power.

Gonna piggyback on here with a dumb question of my own if OP doesn't mind.

For the single climate control models (2020 and below) the dial can select in between top vents, both, bottom, and defroster. Does this mean if it's set between top vent and top/bottom vent then top vent gets 2/3 of airflow while bottom vent gets 1/3 of airflow?

Mine has ticked since new. From what I've searched, it's normal. I've heard it in others idling around here as well.

Congrats on the new truck; enjoy it!

Thank you! I am super stoked. I have had toyota's in the past and have wanted to get back to one for some time now. I purchased it in Cement Gray color. Its amazing. I will be reading none stop on here. All these guys have so many cool upgrades.

Please post separately. Great question IMO. But since the main topic is different, you might miss some good info.

Doubtful. I've only seen single position selections in the past, regardless of where the knob sits. I don't think the servos stop fractionally.

Correct. It has defined positions and is not infinitely adjustable.
