    Just saying hi

Picked up my first truck ever about two weeks ago. It's a huge change from the cars I've had recently ('16 bmw 340i and '17 RR evoque). It was time for a change since my wife is pregnant we needed the space and I'm tired of always borrowing friends trucks to move stuff!

I wanted a trd off-road but this was available and leased better (I work for Penske and got an employee deal).

The day I picked it up:
    IMG_5044.jpg

Since then I removed the air dam, plasti dipped lower bumper and emblems to see if I want to buy those parts in black, got tailgate inserts (don't have a pic for some reason) and plasti dipped the grille until my wife lets me buy a pro grille.

    IMG_5100.jpg

Then I took off the predator tube steps and I'm really happy with it so far!

Bonus late 4th of July picture after I made a flag mount:

What are everyone's thoughts on trd pro clones? I would have just bought one but as mentioned before, wife is pregnant plus my eventual plans to upgrade suspension would render the TRD Pro's extra $$ kind of pointless. Also as soon as I saw quicksand I had to have it.

Welcome and nice looking truck. If you like the Pro parts get them. Its your truck and screw what anyone else thinks. IMO they look good but there as as good or better things for the same cost.

    Thanks!

I was more curious as to whether or not it's frowned upon lol. I'm going to do somewhat of a clone anyways since I love the look but I was wondering if I should bother sharing it once I get further along.

Theres plenty of people doing it. The pro grill seems to be one of the most popular choices out there. Some may give you a hard time due to the cost of a pc of plastic and in there opinion better choices available but most will appreciate a nice looking Tacoma!

Nothing wrong with being a Bro Pro. I don't do the pro emblems though.

Tw and YouTube are tough critics but haven't heard anyone slam me or others.

    Embrace the bro-pro-ness

    Welcome aboard!

What did you think of the Evoque? I'm trying to convince my wife to get one (seriously, how hard is it to convince someone to move from a Forester to a Range Rover?)

Congrats on the new truck. Search around on here. I am positive I have seen another quicksand turned PRO. You will get some great ideas that's for sure.

I absolutely loved it! I don't recommend owning any Land Rover out of warranty though lol.

Thanks! I know I have seen at least one thread of a quicksand pro clone. I love the look, I just wish I had the rear locker and crawl control of an off road or actual pro.

Welcome to TW! Nice truck, BTW. It's your truck so mod it as you please and make it yours. Do what you like and don't worry about what others think. It took me over a year to find the one I wanted. Be sure and visit the Quicksand thread.

Plasti dipped the fenders to see if I like the look... and I do! I'm gonna pick up a set of off road flares eventually since I don't like how plasti dip holds up and is a pain in the ass to clean.

The more I look at the trd pro the more I want mine to look like it. I think I will be slowly doing a clone minus the badges, wheels and probably the tail lights. I think I want a set of 4runner trail wheels in black, I just love the style and I like an oem look.

Plasti dipped the emblem also. I already hate the texture of the fenders though and they didn't come out that smooth so I plan to swap with someone for off road flares. I also got led fog bulbs and all the interior lights.

Great pictures. Congrats. Should suit you and your new lifestyle well. We drive an evoque and have a Evoque website (albiet lame as Tacoma, FJ and 4Runner gets most of our attention), but we do love the evoque.
We're about to put a sprint booster in it to see what we think. The sprint booster makes a HUGE difference in the FJ, so we'll see.
Nonetheless, many congrats and welcome. Really nice truck.

Thanks! I think it's the best color they come in. Though I do love Barcelona on the pros
