Just wanted to say hi, Been lingering and reading alot and decided to become a member. I have been a huge yota fan for years and have had about 5 or 6 old school trucks but just picked up a 97 in really nice shape but needs some tlc. Its from Colorado originally so no rust but has some dents and scratches all over. These things are next to impossible to find here (1st gens) because of the buyback program but I bought this off craigslist last friday for $1600. I probably paid too much but for upstate NY this thing is almost mint body wise. Does have 283k miles though. Been pretty psyched about working all the bugs out and getting her fixed up properly. It's a v6 5speed.

    Thanks,Rob

I was actually $1400 but cost me $170 to have it towed. The guy I got it from said the head gaskets needed replacing. It was leaking coolant from the back of the block. I removed the intake to find 1 freeze plug rusted through and the o-ring on the bypass hose was gone. Both of these problems caused the intake valley to fill up with coolant and run out the back of the block. Will not know till Friday if this will totally fix it, had to order intake gaskets and they wont be in till then. Will be great if thats all that was wrong. Seems to run great but the muffler is a little loud.
