There is a new company on the block! They are Lonepeak overland, bringing innovation to the space with an insane intro price of $4995. It seems comparable to a GFC style camper. What do you guys think? It is in early stage pre production but the quality I saw in person was incredible.

They launched preorders this morning FYI. 55 orders or so thus far.

I've been sharing my concerns with someone who has first hand access to Kyle, the owner.

I'll be interested to see where it lands over time.

55 is actually quite impressive for a first day launch. I’m curious to see how well they handle orders and getting them sent out to customers on time. The entry price is tempting.

It feels like a dual edged sword. That ground floor price is so tempting, but you very well may be the guinea pig, dealing with potential hassles as the new business figures out its footing.

I do not design campers, but I do design structures, and this is basically a smaller version of what I understand, and I am concerned about long term longevity. He obviously won't share his design documentation and calculations, which is standard, but his selected connection type is almost at the bottom of the barrel for this type of situation.

I was super interested, until I talked to the owner. Apparently, this thing won't be as low profile as a GFC, which means it won't fit in my garage. Oh well! Otherwise, the owner seems super cool and the product should be nice after a few kinks are worked out.

What type of connection is being used, and are your talking about how the camper is secured to the vehicle?

Are you a brand ambassador with the discount code you posted?

No, the connection to the camper itself is alright, it certainly surpasses SP X1 version 1 attachments. It is the connections within the camper itself. He is using bolted moment connections, in aluminum, for a highly dynamic camper. This really only beats out using bubble gum (alright, that's a joke) to hold it together.

He does offer a lifetime warranty on the camper itself, which is amazing, so maybe he knows a thing or two that I do not.

    I’m 50/50 on this thing

    Love the design.
Bummed I’d lose my cab roof rack.
The fold away bed and full use of the truck bed while camping is super cool.
The height is higher than a GFC, so no more parking garages.

Also a little leery of handing $5k +tax and shipping to a brand spanking new company.

Me personally no, a buddy of mine has the code for $200 off the accessories.

And I see, yeah I wouldn’t know the first thing about quality connections haha. That is good to know though.

ive been looking at these all summer and posted about it in the tonneau caps forum.

i have it in my cart but am hesitant like others. there was a message saying full refunds would be available but that verbiage seems to be gone from the website now.

i do have a $1000 off accessories code since i signed up for newsletters awhile ago. 5.5k for a shell with a tent is a super appealing price, but also am i going to be a guinea pig and will it actually get delivered in june when im planning a 2 week road trip in august?

guess i can put it on a credit card, set up a long term payment plan, and can do a refund much easier if it comes to it.

also, there is an option to have it a bit taller to work with racks on the cab.

im not sure what bolted moment connectors are, but it looks to have similar mounting points as a rsi cap, which is like 4.5k. gfc cap is around 4.8k. full gc is like 9k.

idk, the price is really nice. wish i had a chance to see it in person when they were near me, but all the comments of those that did see it are positive minus a few things they already planned on revising.

I wouldn't cut it that close either. He delayed the preorder date itself by 4 days.

And the connections I am worried about have nothing whatsoever to do with the camper to the truck bed connections.

Lifetime warranties are only good if the company stays in business ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Very true haha. How many companies have you seen that have been around a lifetime anyways.
