How's it going everyone, this is my first truck and I'm pretty stoked about it. But after sifting through all these threads about some common issues these trucks seem to have, I realized I've got some work to do.

The first thing I've checked was the driveline and for any loose nuts or bolts and any signs of leakage. I noticed there aren't any zerk fittings on the drive shaft, is this right? FYI I bought this truck used with about 8k on the clock so I'm not sure if there were any issues with the previous owner or if any tsbs have been taken care of.

Also, I moved down to Orlando about a few weeks ago and have a Crf450r that I've been wanting to ride around here. Does anyone know where there's any local riding areas? Natural terrain or tracks?

    Thanks

    Welcome!!
From what is learned , Toyota started changing the Ujoints on the OR's sometime in 2016 . Mine was built in April 2016 in Mexico and has 5 zerks . Later in the year , that changed and there were 3 ?
    Now maybe none ?

Had to, deal was too good to pass up. At least I hope so.

I'm not sure...but I couldn't find any when i was down there. Also, the carrier bearing looked like it had some lube coming out of it. I don't think its normal but we'll see. Only thing i thought of was maybe the original shaft went to hell and the dealer replaced it with one without any zerks. Or maybe I'm paranoid.

Welcome, about mid 2016 Toyota discontinued the zerks on the driveshaft, my 16 had them my 17 not so much. Sick bike, just put a deposit down for a 17 CRF450R. Never rode in Orlando but know of a few tracks in the area.

    Well that sucks...oh well.

Dude, good move. I kinda wish I held off for the 2017 because I had a feeling there were going to go back to spring forks. The air forks are ALRIGHT after I had them revalved, but its nowhere as good as a traditional spring fork. Kinda thinking about swapping her out for a 17 or doing a spring fork conversion.

I'd wait. Since dealers aren't negotiating on them since they are limited in supply with the earthquake and high in demand, you can't even order oem parts for them right now. My 15 CRF250R air forks were great.

True. Did that one have the Showas? All I got out of it was that the KYB PSF's weren't all that great. I heard good reviews on the Showa SFF's and that's about it.

How you like that 450? I've been eyeing a Yamaha WR450F for a bit.

Unless you need the headlight, go for the 450FX. Trust me.
