    Hey everyone,

I just bought a 99 Taco PreRunner XtraCab SR5 V6. It has 122K on it, and it has been a LONG time since I've had a truck or a Toyota, but I am very excited to have it.

The only mod I think I will do at some point is replace the stock/base wheels with some of the upgraded ones that the 4runners and some SR5s have. I also think it needs shocks soon.

Look forward to participating here often!

    Welcome aboard.

I'd bet that you'll see a dramatic ride improvement with new shocks and probably springs if the truck has ever done much more than a commuter.

Before you invest in it be sure to have the frame inspected for rust. Toyota is buying back trucks of that vintage because of rotting frames.

Thanks for the advice! I actually took my flashlight and looked at the bottom of the frame rails all over and couldn't find any rust at all. Also, the truck has been in the South since new (Alabama and then Georgia since 2003), so I guess that's why it's pretty clean underneath.

However, I guess I should still have the local dealer look at it to see? Also, would the dealer be the best place to get new Toyota/Bilstein shocks?
