Hey everybody, just wanted to pop in and introduce myself to the community. The mod bug is really hard to avoid around here lol.

Purchased a 2013 super white TRD Sport DCLB 4x4 with about 85,000km on the odometer. I love it so far. This replaced an '08 Acura TL, I'll never make that mistake of going from a truck to car ever again.

I'm not new to the TOYOTA world, here's a list of what I've had.

    - 2005 Tacoma TRD OFF-ROAD, 3" lift and 33" tires.

    -1999 TRD Supercharged 4Runner

    - 2006 Tacoma X-Runner

    - 1991 Toyota 4Runner with about 5" of lift and 33" tires.

Within a week I had it tinted 5% all around, 18" TRD BBS wheels, 265-65-18 BFG KO2. I'm waiting for the MORIMOTO D2S elite package to be shipped from retrofitsource.com.

And now I'm trying to figure how to achieve a lift a 2.5" lift for a truck that mainly on the street. I've been looking at spacer lifts and the 5100 shocks. I've read spacers are good for street trucks and then I hear they are horrible. I've also read about 5100 being amazing but not so great at 2.5". All I know is that I'll be doing AAL in the rear for sure, trying to avoid using blocks.

Also forgot the tailgate security with the clamp, WEATHERTECH floor mats and also added the POP 'n' LOCK PLM5400. Already have the dual 10" subwoofer enclosure sitting in my basement waiting to get installed lol.

Line-X, LED Gauges, Bluetooth Stereo, TracRac, OME 2.5 Lift, Relentless Fab rear bumper, Shrockworks front. Bleh. So much good stuff.
What is your budget for the lift? To do it right, it'll cost ya.

I did the 2.5 inch Old Man Emu suspension about 2 months ago on my 2003 and it's been great! Soooo much better than the stock suspension and cost around 1200 total. I installed it myself.

I know anything 3"+ I'm going to need new UCA. I'm trying to avoid it lol. I don't mind spending an extra few bucks but at the same time will I ever use the full potential of the full suspension lift on the street?

Lift's go from the sublime to the ridiculous. You can spend a few bucks of several thousand. First thing I'd do is set a budget. What is the realistic dollar figure you can afford to invest? Then, do you want a decent ride? Is there any thoughts of off roading?

Throw out a number that you feel comfortable with and we'll give you a few ideas based on that. Otherwise, you can get zillions of opinions.

About $500-600 and I'll be doing the install myself. My original plan was to upgrade the front shocks to the 5100 at 2.5" with the AAL in the rear. Planned on upgrading the rear shocks next spring.

Honestly, the truck might see some back/dirt roads here and there, it's mainly a street truck.

I'm hoping to have the URD headers, cat-back, y-pipe, intake and the MAF calibrator next summer, or if I can find a TRD supercharger for a lot less than $7200 lol!

I don't wheel my truck, thats what my ATV and sled are for. I just wanted a little lift to balance the truck out since it's so long, so I went with the Billie 5100/OME 885 combo and a 3 Leaf AAL. I think it rides better than it did with the factory sport Bilsteins . It's a great set-up for the price and Marie is awsome to deal with.

    BTW..... nice truck! :)

If I were to use an AAL in the rear, will the stock shocks be ok?

I have the wheelers 3 leaf with the overload left in and stock rear shocks. I have had no issues so far but the truck is only street driven, I never offroad. Even over large dips or train tracks I'm not getting any clunking or noises from the back, but I'm sure if I did go offroad I'd wear them out pretty quick. The thing is that most people go with the 5100s in the rear in the stock length so there's really no reason to change yours out if they are still in good shape and you are a pavement queen like me.
