What factors need to be considered when buying a brush guard? I'm looking for something lightweight, and will provide good protection against run-in's with deer.

I have a WAAG on my ESCAPE it wraps around and there are bars that run across in front to protect the headlights.

From what I've seen and been told, brush guards will do little to nothing to protect against a deer impact.
