I think I found my answer. Nothing in the Starter section about any special alignment upon installation. Looks to be a problem with a couple teeth on the flywheel.

Nope, there is no adjustability there. It's two bolts through the bellhousing and that's it. Don't wait to fix it. I waited, and waited and waited on mine and it finally left me stranded 20 miles north of Espanola at Romero's Fruit Stand on the way home from a backpacking trip. Luckily my buddy had AAA and they covered the $600 tow bill back to ABQ.

What kind of noises is yours making?

Naw. Just chucked it and moved on. Don't have the receipt.

Grinding noise. Happens on start up, every so often. I'm pretty sure it is due to a couple teeth in one spot on the flywheel being deformed or damaged. It has been doing it ever since I had the clutch replaced. I'm pretty sure they didn't use a Toyota replacement flywheel. I took it back to the shop and asked them to fix it. They couldn't get it to repeat after 5 tries so they said it must have "broken in" and if it happened again to keep trying until it does "break in". Funny thing, it did it on the old stock starter, the Napa starter I tried a the possibility of a cheap fix with and now on a new Toyota starter.

Instead of fighting the shop, I'm just going to take it to the dealership and have them install a Toyota flywheel.

Cataline Automotive, don't bother. They don't stand behind their work.

Hmmm, $343 for a Genuine Toyota flywheel or $119 for a Marlin Crawler supplied one. Do I take the chance or hurt the wallet?

Don't know was wondering the same. Let me know what you find out.

I got my ICON's from Wheeler's and got the Remote resi's. They are sweet at both high and low speed. However.......If you can save for them do..........get them from DSM and get the new shock valving and the CDC option. It gives you the option to adjust the dampening of the shock from very firm to very soft. I have done about 60 in the whoops in the arroyo's and mine have been great. I did also get the extended travel option. Also if you are planning on ever running a steel aftermarket bumper try to get the option for 14 inch 600lb coils and adjust the preload on the adjustment rings to as minimal as possible that way you can add preload after you put on the bumper......

    Just my 2 cents.

All of what you said is pretty much exactly my plan! :D

Sucks that after getting the CDC option and the extra protection coating they get into the $1900 range....

SDHQ hooked me up with both options because Icon had to literally build my front shocks... so they gave me the little bonus haha

$550 in labour so taking the chance could be really, really expensive. I'm sure I can do this myself but I've done a clutch once and don't want to do it again. Maybe one day when I buy a house and get a shop up and running in the garage.

Shit, for my bumper, skid and planned winch SDHQ was recommending the 700lb coils. And I have a 1st Gen.

Hmm, I'll probably just call Wheeler's, Icon, and SDHQ when the time comes to see who can give me a better deal.
Yeah either 650lb or 700lb seems to be best for around that much weight. I don't know what I'll go with for aluminum bumper, skids, winch, and dual batteries. I don't want it too stiff like the Eibachs, but don't want a bunch of preload either....

It'll be worth the money. Hopefully... Haha

They do but the other thing you need to look at is that...........depending on amount of use that you give them.............high performance shocks should be rebuilt yearly. So get them basic at 1st and them save for the rebuild after a few years of use, then send them to DSM and get the add on's done. And always spring for the protection coating on them that way there is less to worry about later.

Not really. Wheeler's sell the same ones for $520 brand spanking new. If you're considering throwing money at Icons I'd strongly recommend going with a full leaf pack instead of an AAL. The OME Dakars are nice. Deavers are too. This is where you want to start talking to DSM, SDHQ or Wheeler's to match your springs and shocks.

Complete OME package with Dakars will run $1140 from Wheeler's: A complete Icon package with just an AAL will run about $2k
