Just want to give a shout out to all my 505 brothren out there! Chillin' out in Vegas now due to the military thing I got goin' on. Born and raised ABQ style '77-'02. EHS '95! ENMU in '96. If and when I'm ever back in town I'll be looking for some rides to get into! Just curious but do you all ever hit up the old hunting roads on Mt. Taylor? What about the Jemez?

35's?! Oh god no. I'm freaking out over getting 285's.... Anybody running them here? How much gas mileage did you lose in coming from 265's? I do alot of hwy driving and need every bit of mileage I can get.

Also -- anybody actually USE their TPMS? Still looking at those gunmetal FJ rims for the truck, they aren't compatible with the tacoma TPMS vavle stems, so I'd need to get different ones to run with these wheels, if I wanted to keep the system. Unfortunately, the stems are 80 bucks a pop. The wheels are like, 130...doesn't make much sense.... What do ya'll think? Ditch the TPMS, (since it hasn't done anything really in the 6 months i've owned the truck) and deal with the light? Or don't get the wheels?

I had to trim for my 33's. I'm pretty sure you need a 6" lift to run 35's. I think even then you have to trim. Dom has that set up. If it's a pinch weld, just hammer it flat. Body mount chop isn't hard either. You just need the right tools. Either plasma or wheel cut a section off, weld a new plate on, grind, and spray paint. The plasma would be much faster but you have to be careful not to melt the bushings.
I have 285's. My mileage went down about 2mpg. This sucks but it's not like V6 4x4 Tacomas get good mileage bone stock. If you need the mileage, I would say stick to the 32" 265's. They're lighter, narrower for less rolling resistance and my 1" taller tires only give me an extra 1/2" of clearance.

I wouldn't worry too much about TPMS. This is the first vehicle I've ever owned with it. All of my cars in the past were just fine. But I was never the kind of guy who would drive unknowingly for months on a saggy, under inflated tire. TPMS is designed for those clueless people you see driving down the road with like 10 lbs of air in a tire. "How the hell can you not see/feel that, lady?" I imagine the biggest issue would be dealing with the annoying idiot light on the dashboard.

if you really want the TPMS you can go to discount and they have a pretty cool little set up you mount a little gauge inside the cab somewhere and it will give you the exact number in each tire, i think its kinda cheep too i can remember the price though. but its an option just thought id throw it out there haha

o i broke one of mine like last year and my light has been on for a long time dont even notice it any more either, but its annoying when i go to get my tires rotated they always freak out. (them) "ummm your tires are at the right pressure and the light is still on we think your tire may have a leak around the bead" (me) "no no no i broke one of the TPMS" (them) "o uh ok we were just worried about your safty, do you want to buy one fore $100?" (me) "no its ok have a good day!"
