Spec D headlights (garbage, Do not buy) replaced bulb with H7 80W Osram Off Road bulb so I could actually see. The lights they send do not put off any light at all and it's impossible to see anything at night... TOYO Open County AT III's (smooth ride, not loud) with Matte Black 17-In. TRD PRO Wheels Plasti dipped emblems and Bull Bar (Lasted about 2 years, need to spray them again)
Just ordered the new Morimoto XB LED Headlights and it says the DRL LED white ring stays on all of the time and plugs into the engine fuse box for power (separate from the headlights/turn signals)

I read where someone was having issues with the lights coming on while the truck was parked, so they tapped into the interior fuse box (through the firewall) into the ignition switch... Does anyone have a picture of where the Ignition Switch is to 'fuse tap' into...?!

I'd like the option of turning the Morimoto DRL lights on/off, what's a good switch and install
(2013 TRD sport and it has a DRL switch and one more click turns the stock amber DRL's off, but they say it won't control the new Morimoto headlights white ring DRL)
not the best at electrical, but willing to learn and put in the work, so diagrams/pics are appreciated!

I get a strong GM vibe from those for some reason.

What’s up bro. I tapped my fuse to the Ignition fuse which is located inside driver side fuse box.
Although the installation video on YouTube says to tap into the EFI 10amp fuse, I think it’s best to tap into the ignition that way the DRL on the Morimoto XB lights won’t turn on randomly overnight. Plus it looks much cleaner to just run the wire into the truck rather than coiling it on the side in the engine bay.

The pic above is my truck. The lights are awesome and currently making a switch to turn on & off the DRL’s when I don’t need it on.

I would never recommend tapping an aftermarket accessory into any "mission critical" circuit. Why? If the aftermarket accessory blows that fuse, you're stuck by the side of the road.

That's why that aftermarket accessory (fuse-tap pigtails) has two fuse slots, one for the accessory (LED DRL) and one for the existing fuse you're tapping into. The only way these pigtails fail and blow the entire circuit is if the fuses are inserted incorrectly (meaning the load and draw sides of the fuse must be inserted correctly).

But yes you're right, if the user doesn't know how to check which is the load and which is the draw side..then yep they're stuck on the side of the road Lol.

You simply wouldn't believe some of the hacked wiring I've seen on aftermarket accessories. Some of it was even from supposedly "professional" installers. That's why the first thing any good Tech will check on a no start is the aftermarket crap. Nine times out of ten, guess what?

Thanks, yea, I saw those two before, but no one has any setup on a switch to turn DRL's On/Off...
I was looking for a diagram of Where to tap into the ignition switch because, for some reason, people say if you tap into the engine fuse box (as suggested) that they will turn on and off randomly when the truck is parked and off... That's no bueno! seriously Morimoto?! I'm starting to regret ordering these already, but I need to be able to see at night and going with the stock headlights, ultimate headlight halogen 'upgrade' I'm still going backwards and getting Halogen bulbs which I despise... you can see so much more with LED's and the highway signs/lanes reflect so much better in Florida rain storms!

truck covers usa roll cover, popnlock remote lock, iron cross running boards, p2 trailer Brake, rear view mirror upgrade with auto dim temp and homelink, yakima rack bars , goodyear wranglers, heated side mirrors with directional signal.
Been in contact with @Puppypunter, he makes a harness for third gen plug and play. Wanting my the led bar to come on with my DRL light switch on steering column or with headlights. He said it looks similar to the SR third gen that he has designed.....He looking into it, said it looks like it might just be a matter of different connectors....any others gen 2 guys with these morimoto XB headlights interested.....

From personal experience, I think you've actually got it backwards. I had the Ultimate Headlight Upgrade in my 2nd gen Tacoma and absolutely loved it. I have factory LED headlights in my new 4Runner and they don't hold a candle to the UHU. In fact in heavy rain, I find the LEDs next to useless. Of course having a set of selective yellow Diode Dynamics SS3 Max fogs makes up for almost everything I gave up.

Old thread, but wanted to post my work around. Since the fuse tap bypasses the stalk, your DRL will always be on. I just installed a simple 2 way switch under the dash next to the fuse box, cut the fuse tap off the DRL wire, attached to the switch and added another fuse tap to power the switch.
