How much are you looking to spend? Both initial cost and total budget including mods?

You could get a nice 02-03 WRX for that money (or less). You said you had a Subaru... so why not another? haha. Find the lowest mileage one you can, and buy it... with a Cobb Stage 2 Accessport, a turboback exhaust, and a few other bolt-ons, you can get close to 300hp. Down the road, upgrade to a FMIC and a larger turbo if you crave more power. Lots of things to do to the WRX... suspension, wheels, seats, etc etc etc.

Depending on how much of a "project" you want, you can usually find 02/03 WRXs without motors (or with blown motors) for like $2-$4k. Rebuild it (maybe do an STI swap?) and you've got yourself a badass car, with fewer things to go wrong with the motor down the line (assuming you do a thorough inspection before dropping it in).

True on the wrx but I have a problem with them my bro had a wrx and sti and I can't get the same thing as him so if it was a turbo subaru it would be the legacy gt but then I run into another problem with subarus reliability its a hard to find car unless its either 1999 or 152000 miles ya know what I mean?

    Haha fair enough man.

I think if you planning to turbo it, you're better off starting with a car that is already turbocharged. Sure, you can turbo an Integra Type-R... but the reliability becomes pretty questionable haha. At least compared to a turbo RX7, turbo Supra, STI, Evo, etc.

You could look into a Mitsubishi Evo 8? They aren't as reliable as Subarus... and sound like civics compared to that boxer rumble... but are still pretty quick. I don't know too much about Evo pricing down in the US, but I'd at least look around for an Evo 8, see what they're going for and how many miles they have.

You could also always do a turbo swap into an Impreza 2.5RS coupe. Pick one up with a blown motor (or just high km), pull the drivetrain, and get a WRX motor/transmission (or STI motor/transmission, depending on how much you want to spend). Everyone says the first Imprezas were the most fun to drive anyways. Lots of guys have done the swap, it's really nothing out of the ordinary. Same basic block. If you take a look on the NASIOC classifieds, you can commonly find ones that are a swap in progress for sale, a swap waiting to happen (ex a guy selling a car with a blown motor and a replacement WRX motor included), or one that's already done but had no visual mods (or has some rust issues).

Start with something simple like this...

    And turn it into this...

Don't get me wrong, you can turbo any car... just a question of who does the tuning, what PSI you will be running, and how much hp the internal components of the motor can handle.

Thhe one thing I've never done is a motor swap so if I can do it without swapping a motor will be the best for me I just don't know where to begin with that

Well it would be a good learning experience! haha.

I'll see if I can find any project cars on NASIOC for you when I have a second to look.

Didn't have too much time to look for you (and only looked at cars in MD/VA). But here are a few... interesting... finds haha.

This one is definitely a project (and dirt cheap!)... but the downside is that it's like your bro's car haha.
    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2045228

This isn't a Subaru... but still AWD and turbocharged.
    http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2165081

I think that this might be the best choice... it's a Legacy GT... needing a little bit of work... with a fresh motor!!!!!!! Downside is that it's an automatic... but you can swap in a manual transmission relatively easily.

I don't think you'll be buying this... but worth checking out! Make sure you watch the video.

Haha no problem man. Glad to help. Let us know what you end up with! Keep an eye on the classifieds over on NASIOC, there is always cool shit popping up for sale, I've seen everything from M3s and RX7s to R34 Nissan Skyline GT-Rs and older muscle cars.

I myself really like that Legacy.. if it was up in Canada and had a manual I'd be all over that. There is a similar Legacy up here actually... it's an 06 GT, with an STI motor swap (just like the white one), and the 6 speed manual transmission. Visually looks much closer to stock. The guy is firm on $21,000... it's been for sale for two years now haha. That guy with the white Legacy seems to want to get rid of it.. if it were up in Canada I'd go see it an offer him $10k for it.
