all star toyota in baton rouge, LA. Brought truck in for app. Complained that the springs were coming close to and sometimes hitting the bump stops when I had my little Honda recon 4 wheeler loaded. Mrs amy in service department said no prob we will look at it. I mentioned I had found a tsb dealing with the leaf springs and was interested in getting it performed. She called a min ago and said they will do it they just have to get the parts. They will be in tomorrow and installed. No extra charge for having a lift. Though I bought it from there with the lift already on it.

    Hello,

I have read the rear leaf TSB a couple of times looking for the VIN numbers that this applies to. Others keep mentioning the VIN numbers on page 1. I can't see them listed.

    Can someone point them out?

    TIA

Sorry, but I am still not able to see the VDS numbers. I have the snippet from the VIN on my truck. But in the TSB I do not see where they are listed. Everyone keeps saying at the 'top' of the TSB. But I do not see them. Does 'top' mean page 1? I do see on page 6, where they start the alignment procedure it starts breaking that out by VDS. But I am not seeing anything on page 1 or 'the top'.

Apologies for being so 'tarded about this.

    TIA

Top of page one to the right.

If you fall into and of those Vin number groups go to page three and check the part#s on your truck's leafs.Behind the wheel on leaf top.Use a mirror.
If you have the 3 leaffs now chances are you'll have the old part #s.

This is just friggin' crazy. I have tried a couple of different pdf reader programs and I still do not see the Vin number groups at the top of page 1. In the 'Applicability' section it lists years, models, and additional info. For the models all it says is Tacoma. Under that is a red 'supersession notice'. Then the introduction and then the parts information. I am looking at T-SB-0305-08.pdf. I downloaded it from one of the links in the threads here.

    Thanks again.

Top right, bottom part of "Additional Information", Line 3 is
    "VDS(s): JU62N, KU72N, LU42N, MU52N, TU62N,
TX62N, UU42N, UX42N"- your VIN# probably includes one of these sets of characters. Mine has LU42N as characters 4 though 8 of the VIN #.

    Many Thanks,

    I got a match.

I wish I could remember where I downloaded the tsb from. It has obviously been edited. Like beeftaco, I used preview to view it and I just double checked and they are not there!

    Thanks again

Getting the runaround. 2007 KU72N DoubleCab PreRunner with 40k (OOW I know)
Went to Capistrano Toyota in San Juan, CA. Told me OOW, call Toyota.
Called Toyota, said yes under TSB, Contact Capistrano Toyota CS Manager.
She calls me back a couple days later, says bring it in.
Bring it back to tell Service Manager, he pawns me off to the same guy that sent me to Toyota.
Sit around a couple hours while they "inspect" it. Tell me it's not covered because not 4X4.
Call Toyota back, they now tell me it's not covered because it's not 4X4.
Argue that the TSB says PRERUNNER. He says too bad, it's not under warranty.
Ask to speak to a manager, he say no way, nothing we can do for you.
Capistrano Toyota calls me back, says she checked with the Toyota District Manager for out of warranty exception, and I was denied.

I asked her to mention to him that I believe this poses a safety hazard, and that the truck is incapable of handling the load specified in the owner's manual. I am awaiting a final callback...

Long story short, Both Toyota and the Dealer are very non-commital, and not willing to go the extra mile to service a truck that is a few thousand miles out of warranty.

Anyone in SoCal area able to get out of warranty TSB Springs done? I am in OC, but would consider SD/LA/IE as well.
If so, PLEASE PM the dealer you went to, and the service manager contact info if you have it.

I assume getting this TSB done fixes the "squeaky spring" issue as well?

After reading all of these posts, I decided to check the part no.'s on my rear leaf springs. Damnit!! I, too, have the "bad" part no.'s with no helper spring. I have a 2009, though, so as I understand it, my truck is not covered under the current TSB. Does this mean I am doomed at some point, when I carry my first substantial load? I just bought the truck less than 2 weeks ago and this problem seems pretty old. One would think that a new truck would have the changes in place already.

My truck doesn't appear as raked as others seem to claim. I measured the rear and front heights and there only seems to be about a 1" delta in height. Is this perhaps due to the potentially "bad" springs?

Is there anyone with an '09 and the "bad" part no.'s that doesn't have this problem when carrying a load? Thanks!

The "problem" isn't a problem for everyone- so they spend less money by fixing them case by case insted of using new springs on ALL the trucks.

You have to ask the dealership...If you have the TSB and can show them the part numbers etc etc...You've got a chance of getting it done. Sometime around Sept expect an updated TSB. And I didn't have any issues with my '08 springs under ~550# of cargo. So you may or may not have the issue. If you are concerned...Look into getting it fixed.

I couldn't deal with Advantage , to be blunt, they didn't know anything about selling cars . I went in there with a blank check from my bank , all I had to do was pick out the truck , the salesman told me that my trade in had to be completely paid off , and that I had to have a clear title before they could trade . I thought , wow , what a joke . Turned around and went to Fannins , where he sold me a 09 base Tacoma 4x4 for $17,500 . We still have a good laugh at the people at Advantage .
