Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, warmer colors seem easier on my eye than the bluish colors. Is the 4000k setup what you run? (

I "personally" run BD Squadron Pros at the moment, but since I sell all of this stuff I handle and test all of it (SS3s didn't even exist at the time). I am slowly inching closer to getting a new truck so I have been dragging my feet on changing everything up. My next build will have at least some Diode Dynamics on it. They don't offer everything I want, but such is life! I recently just installed one of these kits on a customer's Raptor... Went 4000k emitters on all of the lights, and then put on white lenses. All in Pro power. It's an absolutely FILTHY setup.

You can see all of our lens swap comparisons in the video I've linked below. A side-by-side of the cool white and yellow swapped output can be seen at 3:12. We hope this helps!

This is great information! Does this information also generally apply to the SS18 bar as well? (LED color as well as the general steps to change lenses)

    Thanks!

I run 2 sets in my bumper, selective yellow pros and 4k pros, after being so use to BDs 5k I dislike anything higher. I do a lot of driving with my auxiliary lighting and my eyes fatigue after a short period of time with 6k and up.

Sounds like you’ll be very happy with 4k white, the only shitty part is you have to buy lenses to achieve it. 6k really doesn’t have any place in quality lighting in my opinion.

No, the stage series bars only have one color temp emitter (about 5700K if I recall correctly). They use a darker amber lens to filter it to selective yellow. So there's no point in swapping lenses on them.

The stage series bars are a great value, though they are not as advanced as the new SS3 pods. They are based on off-the-shelf extrusions and end caps (I've recognized other brands, like GG lighting, with the same extruded heatsinks and faceplates). While they have the same TIR optics, they are smaller in order to fit in the generic chassis. Plus they use a secondary lens for the final pattern, rather than incorporating them into the optics the way the SS3 does.

I would love to see a retooled bar from Diode Dynamics with all of the new SS3 features baked in, but that may be a ways off. The last I've heard is that they're working on a half-size pod with 2 chips, called the C2.

Got my DD SS3 Pros today. Now just need to figure out how to adjust them.

Here is a lot of info: Diode Dynamics SS3, including the picture comparing color temps.

Top to bottom, 6000k vs 4000k vs selective yellow.

I’ve seen several people say that. Do they not come with instructions for adjusting them? Do they have to be adjusted before install, is their no adjustment screw to use after install? Some photos folks have posted illuminate the tops of trees like they’re set up for coon hunting!

You must always adjust lights after install. There is no adjustment screw, it is manual aim like many others. I find the best way is to replace the lights one at a time then aim the new light to match the cut off line of the existing OEM light. Once you have the new one properly aimed, replace the 2nd light are aim it to match the 1st.

The OEM adjustment screw gets swapped over to the SS3 pods and placed in the bolt hardware mount they give you for that screw.

See my install write up on my 2010.

Your added hints on adjusting these type fogs should be helpful to others, yours seem well adjusted. Answered my questions as well, thanks!

They come with the adjustment screws. I figured it out, tab wasn’t on the screw head.

The OEM adjustment screw is only for 05-11 trucks. 2012 and newer are manually aimed.

One screw mounts to the rentention slots, the pods should be oriented as far down and then they can be angled downward a bit more.

I missed this message earlier. You are absolutely right. I ended up ordering the SS18 bar because it fit the bumper on my 80 series perfectly. I ordered the amber color bar with the expectation to get a 4000k color, by switching the clear lenses. Just like you said, I swapped the center lens to clear but the color came out to a cooler color... probably the 5700k that you mentioned. I absolutely love the bar but was a little disappointed when I didn't get the 4000k color. I know this thread is about the SS3 pods, but I figured everyone might appreciate pics.

Here's the bar as I received it:

Swapped center lens to clear fog pattern:

Here's the light bar (only) on:

The output is crazy impressive. I really like the bar.

I really wish they had a 3000k selective yellow to match my fogs and for usability. Amber just doesn't do it.

Yes it would be nice to see some consolidation across the line. I might consider swapping to a 4000K bar if they ever decide to retool that product family. I have their 30" bar on my roof that works fantastically, along with some Baja S2 ditch lights.
