    Hey guys,

Going to be upgrading my tires in the next couple of weeks on my 2010 double cab. I am going to upgrade to 265 70 17s. I am looking for specific brand and model recommendations. Looking for an AT of some sort with a little more of an aggressive look but also rides well for commuting. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

    Josh

If you want an aggressive tire then the Michelin is not for you. They are great tires, probably the best, but not a great AT as they are not aggressive enough. After basically researching tires to death for the last year, I went with the Falkens. They were aggressive (much more so than the pictures indicate), have great wet performance traction, quiet on the road, and have an excellent price point.

I like my Goodyear Duratracs. They look great. A lot of people crap on them and I’m not sure why. I have nothing to compare to though, so idk. Just keep them rotated.

My decision came down to the Duratracs and Falkens. Honestly, I like the Duratracs but have read so much about balance issues until I was a little skeptical of them, mostly because I have crappy luck. :). I’ve most always had good luck with GY tires (until recently). The deciding factor for me was price. I thought the tires were basically a wash for my needs and wants and the Falkens were too good of a deal to pass up.

I’d say @Lt. Dangle and @shakerhood would be able to help as I just got mine. I had the Coopers on my second gen and they were good tires. However, the Falkens have considerably better wet braking.

Good advice here, or the Michelin Defender M/S. When you are 40,000 miles into them, you will be glad you got them.

I've got over 20K on my Falkens. I get the same mileage I did with the stock Goodyears. They still look like new, but I can take an actual measurement if you want. I have 265/70/17 in SL. They are great in the wet, ride nice on the road, and are not any noticeably louder than they were when new, they also were not louder than the stockers. I highly recommend them.

That will be the same size I am getting. I think I am probably going to pull the trigger. SL? Very helpful. Thanks!

Some of the early SL users experienced quicker than normal wear, and there are some users who have gotten bad tires, but I think the tire wear issue has been resolved and it's possible to get a wonky tire from anyone.
I got the SL because for a taco it's more than enough tire and I didn't want to take a MPG hit with the heavier tire. I tow and wheel my truck and when these tires wear out, I can't see even considering a heavier tire.
