Okay, I have a 08 reg cab 4x4 with the standard equipment Dunlop Grandtrek AT20's.

Whose bright idea was it to put highway tires on a 4x4? I understand my base model truck probably has a lower profit margin than a loaded out double cab and the highway tires contribute to better fuel economy over all terrains,
but still. I haven't had my truck long enough to try out the 4WD (Quiet! I can't type with all of this booing!) but the factory tires look like they would have trouble with anything tougher than wet grass.

So, I need some input for alternative choices. I must admit I'm leaning towards BFG AT KO's, but I want to run the stock size and apparently they
only come in load range E (!!!). I love the way they look, but I think 10 ply
is a bit overkill for my needs.

Should I just go ahead and put 1 ton truck tires on my truck or should I find something else? I know appearance is subjective, but I love the 'classic' BFG AT look.

I have a single cab prerunner and I am looking for some new tires for the wheels I am ordering next week. I am looking at a 265/70/16. They are a little wider and just a hair taller.
I have looked at the Toyo open country AT and the Kumho road venture AT. I had the Kumho on my Nissan Titan and they were very good tires. I too would like the BFG but they are a little too much for me.

I used to run BFG A/T's exclusively. One day I was offered a new set of Nitto Terra Grapplers to try out. I have been running them on all my trucks since. They offer more grip in all terrain and conditions than the BFG's, I have found. :)

When it's time to replace my BFG rugged trails it won't be the BFG T/A KO's after reading the reviews on "Tirerack" and "Discount Tire". It will be what I had on the last truck being the Michellin LTX M/S.

Better mileage with less care and plenty aggressive for what I do off road. Easily a 60,000 mile tire and great on pavement. Not to mention less $.

i really like my bridgestone dueler a/t revos in 265/70/16...stock size. great on and off road, balance real well, wear good and even, and they are smooth on the highway.

bfg at ko's are nice but if youre worried about your fuel mileage dont bother, theyre rather heavy tires IMO.

Yep, that At's are very heavy compared to most other tires. I think you can find tire weights on discountire or tirerack.

Dont feel bad my $27k truck came with the same shitty tires you have. I am going to drive them bald then replace them with either BFG all-terrains or Bridgestone duelers.

I just came back from the tire shop. I went with the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos. They had them in my size (245/75/16) in P-metric, cause I don't really need load range E tires. I got them for $119 each, plus $100 mail-in rebate, so I think I did alright.

    Thanks for your help!

Bridgestone still has a $100 rebate on the Dueler A/T Revo for purchases through June 10th.

I wish my tacoma 2008 came with those lights stock, I'm having a hell of a time finding true fog lamps to mount in the stock bumper sockets and Toyota wants a mint to put them in.

I put Pirelli Scorpion ATR's on my 07 double cab today. Very nice looking tire, performance has yet to be determined.

i have heard nothing but good comments about the scorpion atr's. plus, they look alot like the revo's that i have, with almost the same type of tread pattern, but they are alot less. seem like an awesome tire. let us know how they balance out, and how the ride/performance is with them.:)

How does one go about getting a custom made AAL? I wonder if Alcan can custom make me one to go with my tsb leafs...

After I'm lifted 3", I will be running 265/75/16 BFG M/Ts on my TRD Alloys.
