    Howdy folks.

Looking at the Cooper AT3s. My stock tire is the dunlop 245 75 r16 (not happy with them at all). Ive checked out other threads and just want to confirm the following:

    245
    stock for my truck

    265
    fills out wheel well
    possible power loss
    possible loss in MPGs
correct my speedometer (my speedometer is off between 3-6 MPH)

Am I missing anything? I will probably keep go with the 245s unless there is something glaring I missed.

Also, I checked out discount tires on ebay. Really crazy prices compared to mavis tire and costco. I will probably order from them discount tire. Anyone have problems with ordering tires online and getting grief from a tire shop installing them?

    Thanks again internet peeps.

simpletire.com is another decent place to check out....

call the tire shop before you go down just to confirm they will install them for you (most dont have an issue)

I also will be replacing the stock tires on my AC. I went back in forth on tire sizes, settled on the 265/70-16. After using this tire calculator it really helped with me make up my mind. Also TW site has one also in the tires section.

The link below will compare stock 245/75-16 to 265/70-16 & 265/75-16

Great seller, great deals. I had them on my doorstep in 3 days. Do not, repeat DO NOT give them your phone # when checking out. I have been getting 5-10 robo calls a day since I bought my tires from them almost a year ago

Definitely go for the bigger size to fill the wheel well. You don’t notice the loss in power or mph honestly. And the fact your speedometer will be correct is a big plus

Thanks for the feedback. I will check out the link and call around a few shops for mounting prices. Maybe I will go 265. I'll let everyone know. I'll try and take before and after photos.. if I remember.

I bet when you put that ding in the left front, near the fog light you cried. Your truck looks great, well done on the build.

Lol, that shit was already there. The previous owner took great care mechanically but he was the worst driver ever. All 4 corners have some sort of damage.

My truck (V6) came with P245 75 16's. Speedo displayed 62-63 mph at a true 60 when new, odometer was almost perfect, ie 50.1 compared to 50.0 by mile markers. Replaced with Michelin LTX MS2 P245 75 16's (now sold as Defender). Really don't care about the speedo error, more interested in accurate odometer. The Michelins, even though same size, show 49.8 for true 50 miles travelled when new. Re-calibrated ScanGauge for the difference, and will check/re-calibrate every 10,000 miles to account for tire wear.

V6 basemodel comes with the 245s

I think 265/75/16 (265/70/17) is the best all around tire size for these trucks, even when lifted up to 3 inches. No need for wheel spacers or special offest/ BS wheels. No trimming or rubbing on stock spec wheels, speedo is correct, very functional on and off road. No noticeable power loss.

I've considered going back to 265s for these reasons and more. Then I go out, look at my truck, and think "man those 33s are looking kinda small

It's likely or at least possible previous owner removed the TPMS.

I like the AT3's from Cooper. I've gone through almost three sets of them in 235 85r16. Skinnier than the the 265 series you're looking at but roughly same diameter.

I found them to be great in snow. I was always loaded down with at least 500lbs in the bed though. Always great in rain and all types of dirt roads. No complaints and would be getting another set this fall if I hadn't found Yokohama geolander GO15's.

The Yokohamas have the severe snow rating and I had a set of their older version before I went to Coopers. The old set surprised me the first time I ran them in snow and had similar all around performance to the Cooper's. never had any complaints for either.
