    Please excuse my ignorance....

I'm looking for those who care to share you thoughts AFTER lifting and using said truck as a DD. I'll likely be purchasing a '16 Tacoma for my wife, and will be wanting to lift it. I know the platform is a tad different, but how are you guys liking the newer trucks as a dedicated DD after a decent lift? By this I am referring to how the motor and trans react. Not ride quality, I am familiar with the do's and don'ts with that aspect. We'll be running a quality coilover setup on all terrains. The newer trucks don't seem like they are gutless, but I have not ridden in a lifted Tacoma, just a lifted 4runner.

I plan to run a 3" minimum, haven't decided exactly what setup just yet of course.

285s and a 3/1 level lift. I never had any power concerns after doing so. It still hauled a 26', 7k-lb trailer too. On the highway my milage increased, in town no real change.

Re-gearing would be nice in town, but not real agressive, or the highway top end would suffer.

Why not put your lady into a real man's truck, a nice 1st or 2nd gen? Not hating on the '16.

Find me a 1g or 2g with leather, dual climate, electric, new car smell, warranty, and...wait you said a real man's truck! I'm not married to Mr. Jenner.

We're wanting the '16. There's a market for them...and we happen to be one of those in it.

I'm not too worried with fuel mileage. My car gets 13mpg. Price you pay to play

We haven't yet. I can't buy one site unseen. My dealer will have one tomorrow. It seems they are only sending the access cab in the off road package though. It's between the TRD and limited though. I kinda like the hood, and I prefer aftermarket audio. We'll have to see them and drive both. I've heard the two differing packages handle differently from years passed. That won't matter too long as it will get the lift.

Those of you with pretty decent lifts care to share your thoughts?

I have had multiple lifts on my 2010 Tacoma.. I wasted a lot of money finding the one that was best for me.. however gave me a lot of knowledge.. before thinking about lifts.. look at how the truck is designed.. a lift that would fit on a 1st gen doesn't fit a 2nd gen.. I now have a 2015 and getting old man emu lift on it.. its also the last lift on my 2010.. but with all the knowledge I have.. it might be wrong for a 3rd gen... and until I know what is compatible.. I don't want to give bad advice

Yeah, that makes sense. I know the 16 is a different breed, but it is still comparable somewhat.

So, for information purposes, those running let's say a 6" on all terrains, how do you feel the truck handles the lift and tire combo?

Again, I'm completely new to this platform.

I'm not looking for lift options. Just how the truck reacts.

Well these trucks react differently to different lifts.. Bilstein 5100s cranked all the way up to give you 2.5 inches of lift is like a pogo stick handling... old man emu is good and depending which coils and leaf pack can be too harsh for some.. with some weight on the trucks it makes the truck handle well.. these trucks are light.. any changing of these trucks from stock.. you will notice it in the steering wheel.. you will feel the imperfections in the road... larger tires over 265/75/16 or comparable . And it will feel sluggish but once to speed wont notice it
