Hello everyone, my first post to the TW site. I have been reading for a while and thought I would jump right in.
This is also my First Toyota Tacoma that I just bought so I am learning a lot from just reading.

I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and enjoy reading your comments. I am in the process of installing a hi-fi system in the Tacoma now and will keep everyone up to date on the audio thread with pics, etc. I am kinda old school and use out of date equipment but IMO it still remains the best ever designed. A/D/S , Soundstream and old Fosgate stuff from the late 80's-early 90's.

Thanks and look foward to sharing information as well as learning a lot also!:)

    Bill

Welcome TRDHead! It should be interesting to see the response you get to your old school methods. Looking forward to some pics...

Thanks everyone! Many years ago I worked for a high end car audio shop and my first car that I did there was a Ferrari 308. We did most of the Mercedes, jags, porsche, lexus from all around. Believe it or not the best car to put a nice system in for sound quality is either a VW bug or an older 911 Targa.

I will post plenty of pics on the audio thread for everyone. I have a custom single 10" enclosure in the works for my truck.

Welcome to TW. Just curious, where do you get all of your vintage sound equipment?

Toy4life, I look on Ebay and other car audio sites and put out want ads. I had a bunch of old Soundstream stuff in a previous vehicle and sold it with it as the guy was just about crying begging me to leave the stuff in. He paid for it. I am looking now for speakers, It is hard to find good stuff anymore. Most everything is cheap and flashy eye catching logos etc to get people to buy them. Even the newer soundstream stuff is not that good. I used to have a buddy in CA that owned an older shop that got A/D/S , soundstream, old hifonics stuff in on trades and sold it to me previously but he went out of business when he got deployed to Iraq. I will keep everyone posted.

Here are a couple of pics for now of the new ride. It is a 98 model and I picked it up for $7k cash about a month ago. Oh yea, I need a passenger side front mud flap if anyone has one. Someone decided a week after I had that they needed it more than I did and removed it screws and all. I really hate thieves.

I can't agree more. Now that I've started to look around I can't find high quality but simple components like I was able to get back in the 80's. I'd love to get my hands on an old Concord Amp and some Acoustic Research speakers. :frusty:

Roland, I remember those AR speakers. Those were the good ole' days. If I run into some older equipment I might PM you and see if you are interested.
