Hi, everyone. I recently purchased a 2014 2wd Regular Cab Tacoma. I do not like the stock rims and tires that are currently on it. The rims are 15x6j, bolt pattern is 5x114.3, and the tires are 215/70r15. I would like to know exactly what size tires and rims I could go up to (preferably 16/17 inch rims) without modifying the truck or scrubbing in any way. I would like to have all terrain or off road tires simply for aesthetic purposes. As I said previously, I am extremely new to trucks, and I would appreciate any help.

I would say 16”rim max (15” rims will give more options) and possibly only going max 1” greater in diameter is as you can really do with 0 modification. If you remove the black box you can go slightly larger

Is there somewhere I could look to find out what size tires would fit? Say I get 16" rims, how would I know which tires could fit in there?

You can compare tire sizes and see what on a 15 is the the same as a 16” and go up a little from that. Usally rule of thumb is you can go 1” bigger in tire size on stock suspension

I'd go with 16" rims and either 265-70-16 or 265-75-16.

265-75 is the biggest you can go on 16" rims without rubbing or cutting (generally).

If you have the 4cyl I'd do 265-70-16. Just one opinion of many.

I found some 235/75/15 tires that I like. I heard that these fit very well in my truck with no lift. Now the question of my rims... the stock ones are 6jx15 with 35 offset. I know I need to keep the rims at 15 and stay close to the stock offset. But what does the 6J stand for and how far can I stray from that?

6j is the width of the rim

Max you probably wanna go is 8” wide and keeping the same offset

But nothing is wrong with 6” you can run those tires in the stock wheels.

I'm having a pretty hard time finding rims that are 15x6-8 5x114.3 with 35 offset. :annoyed:

I think they are like 3.5” bs right?

Also remember they have to have a hub bore of 60.1 to be hub centric or bigger

You can measure it yourself if you have a wheel off

Its from the mounting surface to the lip of the rim

You can also look for rim in 5x4.5 because its the same as 5x114.3

Okay. Not purchasing these for sure, but if I did, wouldn't they fit?

This website says that the hub bore for the wheels is smaller than the bore for my truck, I'm confused!

That hub bore is much larger.
It will fit but you either need adapters to make hub centric or use cone style lugnuts to center the wheel
