Beginning that journey as a project with my boys
New to Tacoma World. Wife and I inherited her mothers 1996 SC 4x4 MT 2.7L with just under 65K original miles. Truck has been sitting for quite some time. Very rough to shift in and out of gears. I replaced the shifter lever bushings hoping that would be it. The upper bushing was disintegrated. That did not seem to be the root cause so next up is a full swap of fluids which I was going to do anyway. I have some 33x12.50R15 and wheels (ProComp 97 15x8, 3.75 bs) for the build lined up, but I am a little stuck on the lift. My current plan is the following (any suggestions gladly accepted):

Front : Bilstein 5100 (newer 24-249928) with OME 2880 coils.
Rear : Dakar Leaf Spring Set (OME CS018R) and Bilstein BE5-D559/D560

Truck is a project for me and my boys (12 and 10). Hoping to get them off the computer atleast a little bit this summer. Looking forward to sharing as we make some progress and plan on posting some original photos once I read up on posting rules. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Whatever the case, it sounds like it is worth restoring. Just because it is something you can do with your sons and the fact that it only has 65k on it. It does sound like you are going to get into some $$$ doing it. When a vehicle sits a long time all the gaskets can start to deteriorate as well. Good luck to you, and I hope you get it going. Post pics of your progress.
